I almost let this one pass because I was not a big fan of Marie before. But I decided to give it a chance and do not regret it at all. This album is cohesive and so easy on the ear. The songs are deeply touching and def makes you feel things. Note: the songwriting is so f**king amazing and the fact that this girl did it all by herself makes it even better.

If I Could Make It Go Quiet is overall a very solid debut album. The album is very well produced, although suffers from lacking a clear vision and can feel a little all over the place when it comes to the themes of the songs.

Stand out tracks - Midnight Love, Apartment 402 & "."

A very great debut album, the songwriting, the production, the album artwork etc. Midnight love would be my personal favorite off the album, but it has no bad tracks whatsoever, the production reminds me of early 2010s music and I love that. Highly recommend.

In general is a really good debut album. It sounds kind of different to what you would associate with girl in red but it's not bad, the production is pretty good.

Apartment 402 and "." are the best songs in my opinion.

It is a grower. My first time listening to this album was similar to my first time listening to Yeezus funnily enough. I felt it was incomplete and incoherent but a few playthroughs drastically changed my opinion on it. While what Girl in Red does not push the barrier musically speaking, it is still rather experimental relative to other Norwegian Artists (Sigrid, AURORA, Sondre Lerche,It is a grower. I felt it was incomplete and incoherent but a few playthroughs drastically changed my opinion on it. While what Girl in Red does not push the barrier musically speaking, it is still rather experimental relative to other Norwegian Artists (Sigrid, AURORA, Sondre Lerche, etc) and it pays off for her. Her vocal range is truly incredible and she is able to showcase this talent incredibly well. For a debut album, this is almost as good as it gets. The subject matter is also incredible. Talking about her struggles as a queer woman trying to find love while talking about mental health is very captivating and meaningful and I am looking forward to seeing what she does in the future. The reason I didn't give this a 10/10 because of my initial reaction and still feel as if she had more to offer on this album. Expand

The songwriter goes on to defy social etiquette with more of her direct lyrics about sex, desire, and self-loathing on songs with titles sure to offend or at least embarrass a few parents. Ulven tests the line between potential catch phrases and potential cringes on more than a couple occasions here.

If i could make it go quiet delivers on a great deal of that initial promise, launching Ulven in the same trajectory as her fellow former bedroom pop prodigies with new shifts in style and sound. She clearly has a lot to say and ambition to match her instinct for cinematic drama.

Ulven’s vocals are rendered dreamily, almost inspirationally, over guitars that slash and throb in the manner of loud 1990s indie rock. Her boldness and defiance is taking on new shades.
