Ahh... I wanted to like this album a lot, seeing the sincerity that RM expressed through it. But I honestly didn't appreciate it as much as I'd hoped. Wildflower is really out of left field for my musical tastes but I actually love the chorus, RM has great taste in other artists and is very good at picking out what voices & talents will mix well with his songs & voice ! In terms of lyrics, some imagery was quite impactful, it's a very reassuring album overall even though it knows when to dip into anger when needed, and I think a lot of people will find it relatable, thought it wasn't always the case for me, depending on the songs, I still am glad to see personal and original lyrics like those RM wrote for Indigo !

Simply put, I didn't particularly like all the productions on Indigo, I don't think that the album feels cohesive in terms of music from top to bottom, it starts and ends strongly but it loses me on some tracks like Forg_tful, Lonely or even Hectic, who really just don't land. It all feels very "clean" and proper, so I get why people would like this release for those qualities, but personnally I felt like it missed the honest emotions it wanted to bring out. As far as personal taste goes, I liked RM's rapping much more in this album than his singing, even though his singing in Mono deeply touched me, in this album it felt more like "this is who i want to be" singing than "this is who i am" singing, it felt unnatural in most of the songs.. very abstract but.. i get me. All in all, it was a peaceful listening experience, but it's not an album I'll keep close to me except for a few songs, and I'll stay curious to see what RM continues to bring out.

I had high hopes for RM's first solo album, but I am a bit disappointed, to be honest. This feels like Mono 2.0 but with collabs. The lyrics aren't what I expect from an amazing lyricist like RM, and at times come off a bit Seussicle. It feels like RM has lost the edge that inspired his previous deep lyricism. I'm glad some enjoy it and that he has succeeded with it, but for me, it's a pass this time. I personally feel he would be an amazing author and should write a book. Expand

I had really high hopes on this based on mono. but I was unfortunately a bit underwhelmed. Namjoon remains an incredible storyteller and this album flows well as a whole, taking on lighter themes and sound than his previous works. However I found some tracks to be unnecessary. Closer is probably the weakest to me as I found Paul Blanco's verse and voice to be a bit insufferable. Closer is probably the weakest to me as I found Paul Blanco's verse and voice to be a bit insufferable. Some of the hooks and vocals on the album didn't land well with me and I wish there was more Namjoon and less features as it is his first official solo album and something I was really looking forward to! Yun and No. 2 are very strong openers/enders to the project and I do feel it told a cohesive story even if it didn't connect with me as much as I had hoped. Expand

Indigo is an eye-opening taste of what RM is truly capable of outside the bounds of the K-pop powerhouse.

It’s too early to tell if the record will help the BTS leader achieve his goal of creating something truly timeless but, in this moment, ‘Indigo’ feels like a masterpiece with the potential to be remembered as a classic.

Some moments fall flat – Lonely is cloying, paint-by-numbers EDM-pop that doesn’t fully land. Still, Indigo is a polished collection that spans both pop and rap with confidence.
