    This album is so well tied together right from the production aspect, the sequence of the songs, and the storytelling. It provides an insight into the beginning of Jhope, his fears, and desire for growth. I'm so glad that Jhope broke out of the box and is embracing new genres and visual elements. Looking forward to more from him.

    Love this album. I could see J-hope putting his soul and heart while creating this masterpiece through his thorough and detailed lyrics. The message are well delivered even when some of the words used were embroided with words that harmonized the lyrics, Like,,, they're so direct yet so beautiful. And I believe not any artists can actually nail that skill..

    Personally for me as a growing adult, I relate to Safe Zone the most. He delivered through the lyrics where he had lots of thoughts about him being out of his comfort zone. And I personally think we all can relate the fear of coming out from our safe space to receive and take more challenges in our lives, as well as trying something new. He did that very well and some (like me) must have be relieved to know, that it's okay to have hard thoughts about the future, because J-hope has it too. We are all human anyways. And as an ARMY, it felt like a comfort song.

    And I love equal sign the most. It potrays on how uniqueness is not something that should be a fault nor a bad thing but instead, it is just how everyone is created and each of a person has their own unique trait. "Hate will paralyze your mind, gotta see the other side, it costs you nothing to be kind. Not so different you and I, looking for love in a different light, until we find the equal sign. same, the air we breathe, same, the dreams we're dreaming" at the end -- we all are the same human who has different goals and achievements. so.. no point of hating; just because someone is different from you ;}

    overall, i really love this album. kudos to my love hobi for making this happen and he did VERY well. it's so different from BTS yet he still holds the BTS vibe tight in his heart. the arrangements are also very well made and I hope to see more of him in the future!    … Expand

    Apenas o fato de ele tentar um novo gênero, sair de uma base sólida construída há nove anos, já me faz admirar o trabalho dele. Mas, ele me surpreendeu com as letras, a honestidade e o beat louco, porém, com qualidade. Pra mim isso é arte, mergulhar de cabeça. Eu até passei a ouvir mais dessa mistura depois de conhecer j-hope do Jack In The Box. Parabéns!

Escutar o álbum em sequencia é quase como ouvir uma história, construída passo a passo, influenciado até nas mudanças sutis de ritmos e toques, de início mais sombrio e se tornando algo mais'Jack In The Box' podemos perceber mais um lado do Hoseok (não J-hope), podemos perceber o quanto ele pode se aprofundar mais ainda no seu lado artístico e que ele pode mostrar o seu lado "sombrio". Escutar o álbum em sequencia é quase como ouvir uma história, construída passo a passo, influenciado até nas mudanças sutis de ritmos e toques, de início mais sombrio e se tornando algo mais leve e esperançoso como 'Future', e vemos também um momento de reflexão do próprio Jung Hoseok em 'Safety Zone'.     Álbum perfeito do início ao fim! O cuidado do j-hope em cada detalhe do álbum, a identidade expressa, o fato de ele estar creditado em todas as composições...     understandable if people aren't into hip hop or rock or prefer a poppy sound could find it not easy to digest. To those of us who love both those genres even without knowing what he's saying, sounds great. Excellent progression, beats, flow. Starts raging and ends raging, I loved it.
    Knowing what he's saying reading lyrics definitely added a bonus, I recommend it searching for them, but    understandable if people aren't into hip hop or rock or prefer a poppy sound could find it not easy to digest. Admittedly, I have only listened to the lead single, "More", and as a music video. I probably wouldn't be interested in listening to this song if it was only in audio, which also explains why I haven't bothered to listen to the rest of the album. But I do like both the sound of "More" and the music video, and am happy for it to be part of my Recently Added Smart Playlist on my Apple Music, that being the main playlist that I listen to.    … Expand

    I use the phrase “masterpiece” quite often when referring to Ho-seok’s music, but ‘Jack In The Box’ is beyond a masterpiece. It's superlative, transcendent, and wondrous. It's a whole vibe from start to finish. I’m awestruck by Ho-seok's bravery, transparency, and his willingness to share his deepest fears and insecurities.

    I imagine writing this album has been very therapeutic for    I use the phrase “masterpiece” quite often when referring to Ho-seok’s music, but ‘Jack In The Box’ is beyond a masterpiece. It's superlative, transcendent, and wondrous. It's a whole vibe from start to finish. I’m awestruck by Ho-seok's bravery, transparency, and his willingness to share his deepest fears and insecurities.

    I imagine writing this album has been very therapeutic for Ho-seok. It was bold and brave of him to break out of the singular ‘sunshine’ j-hope persona that accompanied his success through the years. It served him well for a time while simultaneously confining him. At some point, he seems to have become aware of how this persona limited the perception of him as an artist and how it clouded the reality of his achievements. ‘Jack In The Box’ clarifies any such delusions.

    This album is the perfect illustration of how much j-hope has grown and matured both professionally and personally. It also demonstrates how he is far beyond the labels he took on and to played for years. He’s actually a very complex person with many deep thoughts and concerns.

    j-hope and 'Jack In The Box ' both, are worthy of Grammys. I strongly encourage j-hope to fight for the opportunity to submit in multiple categories, specifically the categories of 'Best New Artist, and 'Production'. If nothing else, being nominated would prove rewarding itself, and I think he has a perfect chance of winning.    … Expand

    An amazing and deeply personal album. This album should be listened to from start to finish to fully appreciate the complex and complete storytelling. The lyrics are beautifully put together and each song spends time showing a different perspective on the idea of self, J-Hopes identity, and hope, his self proclaimed namesake.

With Rock, R&B, soul and Asian pop/hip hop trickled throughout the project we really get to see his colors as an artist. As J-hope of bts we get to see the light that he brings but as J-hope the individual we get to see both the light and the darkness that’s within him as an artist without straying too far off from the J-hope we know as army’s. Jack in the box is an incredible album, i literally can’t stop listening to it. Hobi wasn’t just creating an album, he was creating a story. Telling the story of J-hope.     I'm in love with this album! Such an amazing and pleasant album to listen to and all the tracks and the lyrics are incredible. I loved the message and the production of Jack In The Box, j-hope really did an amazing job with this album and I couldn't have asked more for his debut as a soloist. Loved it!

    this is a masterpiece!! the songs are so old school and darkly but sounds so good. the lyrics are the best and are well written that i have been seen lately. jhope was amazing here

    Putting out a conceptual album is not an easy task, but J-Hope did it with the upmost ease. Jack In The Box is solid, cohesive and personal. J-Hope's 'darker' side, which we've already seen in the past on songs like '1 Verse', shows his artistic growth and how comitted he is to deliver a quality body of work. It's almost impossible to pick only one favourite song.

    Don’t usually take the time to write album reviews but I felt that I should with this album. Gosh, I never expected these songs! Really surprised in a good way. J-Hope showed us a darker side of him (we also got a small glimpse of it on Hopeworld). He really took the plunge and I think it paid of! Really loved every song, even the intro fit perfectly in the story and flow of the album. YouDon’t usually take the time to write album reviews but I felt that I should with this album.     Jung Hoseok nos ha dado algo nuevo, una vez más nos ha demostrado el talento que tiene, seas o no parte de ARMY sin duda alguna logras disfrutar cada una de las canciones, las líricas y su producción son bien ejecutadas por el rapero. Es un álbum bastante versátil y corto, lo que lo hace genial!

    JHope is a truly versatile artist, who's able to excel at everything he attempts. A very expressive rapper, with a flow that's out of this world. The production is impeccable and the lyrics are very well written.

    This is a new side of Hobi and his music. I'm glad he had a chance to explore what he wanted for a change in Chapter 2 vs what Hybe forces them to always produce.

    I didn't really enjoy most of the songs and many sound very similar. He took a brave step by putting his new music out there for everyone to critique, which he is open and welcome to. Best of luck and have fun at Lolla!!

    Desde el comienzo del álbum nos propone algo distinto pero aun asi no es posible haber predicho el final del mismo. JHope a crecido como artista y pretende seguir haciendolo para mostrarnos que siempre puede ofrecer mas.

    This might be j-hope‘s first official solo album, but he is definitely no rookie! He showcases his skills both as a rapper and a singer, and delivers an impressively well-rounded album with great lyricism, a true korean hip hop gem!

    Personally quite unexpected, but definitely not in a bad way. This album shows his growth and versitality in terms of music and composition. My favourite tracks are Safety Zone and MORE.

The vibe was like a 180 degree turn from Hope World but not exactly, Hope World is colorful, fun and upbeat but the lyrics are not necessarily happy but it exudes optimism and confidence. JHOPE's optimisticThe sound and story flows so naturally. It's like listening/watching to a theatre piece. The concept theme he used to tell his story fits him so much, feels like it's his destiny. JHOPE's optimistic outlook isn't lost in Jack in the Box but he delved into a darker place, more raw and inquisitive, this was foreshadowed in Hope World's last track called "Blue Side (Outro)". Jack in the Box introduces a dark JHOPE but the innate fun vibe of his remains, and how cunningly represented it was by a toy meant for fun but filled with dark myth. This album is GENIUS.… Expand

J-Hope has bared his soul in his album, shared his thoughts, vulnerability, fear and wish to keep being passionate for his music. Hiphop lovers are bound to love it, but so are great music lovers

    It's amazing how each time you listen to this album from beginning to finish it gets better and better. The songs are so cohesive and powerful, the delivery that only J-hope is capable of give is outstanding. It's so different from Hope World but still so inherent to Hoseok. I love this.

    Just top tier. Recommended to anyone who loves old school Hiphop. J-Hope is known as sunshine but with this album, he tells us the sun too is burning and that's why it shines.

    There’s an excellent three track run from “What if…,” an energetic song that samples Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” into mid-tempo standout “Safety Zone” before a touch of Hope World familiarity returns in the optimistic “Future.”
