This album is just what the world was needing nowadays. A beautiful experience with a lot of emotional lyrics that seems to come from inside gaga's heart. Perfect melodies that makes us chill and a pure and clean voice that we usually don't see in other artists.

This album, Joanne, is not a 'comeback' album. OKAY. JOANNE is an album that speaks about life and all its highs and lows. An album that cuts deep when listening to it because it speaks the truth. It is her best album to date and one of the best albums released this year!

This isn't a "new" or "stripped down" version of Gaga - this is who she is and has always been. Through the album you get to hear her raw vocals and meaningful lyrics that will make you truly appreciate her natural talent. In terms of the Lady Gaga we've all come to love/hate by now, this album definitely differs not only from the sound of her last three LP's, but, also the direction. "Joanne" finds more of a raw, emotional, Gaga this time around. The set opens with "Diamond Heart," which actually sounds like a 'Born This Way'-leftover, nonetheless, still a nice tune for Little Monsters to rejoice to. The LP has highlights such as a the guitar-heavy "A-YO," the late 60's influenced "Come to Mama," and the Florence Welch assisted track, "Hey Girl," but I feel that the standout track is the title track, naturally. The track ["Joanne"] is emotionally well executed and catchy; "Take my hand / Stay Joanne / Heaven's not, ready for you." However, this could very well be one of Gaga's less popular LP;s; even behind "ARTPOP," but it does deliver a few songs here and there that will easily end up on your Spotify playlists. Expand

This is absolutely one of Lady Gaga's best albums, if not THE best one. The only track that is very inappropriate for the album is "Dancin' In Circles", a typical dance song that can remind to the first songs by Shakira. A really bad track. The only track that is very inappropriate for the album is "Dancin' In Circles", a typical dance song that can remind to the first songs by Shakira. A really bad track. By the way, in the other tracks, we can hear a lot of different influences from different genres. The crown jewel of this album is Sinner's Prayer, a country-ish song produced by Gaga herself, Mark Ronson, Bloodpop and Kevin Parker. Now, let's talk about the other song; "Diamond Heart" is a typical Gaga's pop song, nothing more. It is good, but there are better tracks. Not one of my favorites. "A-YO", the second promotional single, is a pop-rock that can remind to a new better version of the hit single "Shake It Off", released in 2014 by Taylor Swift. Not a good choice for a promotional single. The third song in the tracklist is the title track: "Joanne". A beautiful ballad dedicated to her aunt and one of the best songs of this album. Great lyrics and great instrumental. "John Wayne" is the fourth track of this album. It is, kinda, radio-friendly and I wouldn't be surprised if this song would become the second official single. Another crown jewel of this album. For the fifth song of this album, "Dancin' In Circles", I've already reported my opinion. After this, we have the first single, "Perfect Illusion". Maybe the illusion was the concept given by this first single in September? It wasn't a good choice to release that song as the first single, since it is very different from the other tracks of this album. A track out of place. "Million Reasons", another ballad, is one of Gaga's best produced songs from this album. I have a "Million Reasons" to love this track! Incredible.
About "Sinner's Prayer", I've already told my opinion. Outstanding. "Come To Mama" is a great song, not one of the best ones, but still good. In my opinion, this song would fit better as a bonus track on a deluxe version. "Hey Girl", a dance song with the incredible voice of Florence Welch, the singer of the band "Florence + The Machine". Incredible song. Loved it. Now let's talk about the last track of the standard edition: the amazing anthem "Angel Down". One of the best Gaga's songs. Well produced and an amazing work behind the lyrics. It may even make you shed, at least, one or two tears by the end of the track. About the deluxe edition, we have two other songs and an Angel Down work tape. "Grigio Girls" is a great song, there's nothing else to say. "Just Another Day" is THE track of this album! It may even seem a Beatles' song from the White Album. Loved it! So amazing.

9/10, just because of songs like Dancin' In Circles and Perfect Illusion.

'Joanne' 'is a mixture of very classic pop songs, with no clear identity. Very often, while listening to it, you could get the impression that some songs come from the repertoire of other mainstream universe starlets ('' Dancing In Circles '' sounds like a Gwen Stefani b-side, '' A-YO '' from Aguilera or Megan Trainor '' for example).

'' Diamond Heart '' has a pretty good pace, '' Joanne '' (the best song in my opinion) has a lovely refrain, '' Million Reasons '' is a beautiful ballad, '' Sinner's Prayer '' is very pleasant although not very original, and there's also a surprising duet with Welch. And for all who come here and give it 0 points, it is not a shame to dislike something or have a different opinion, but at least show some respect for the artist and refrain from any childish hating on a person you barely know (no matter who it is!).

Although Joanne, as everything Gaga does, is not perfect, it is ok because that is never her intention. More than perfect, Joanne is, like Gaga herself, human. And, to me, that is way better e more relatable.

That aside, Joanne has some of Gagas most brilliant moments. Diamond Heart has Bad Romance's epicness and brilliant production, but with a rock twist. And Ay-o is Mark Ronson's version Uptown Funk for Gaga, we'll be stuck with that one for while, I foresee.

One of the most amazing Gaga's album, it shows that Gaga is an incredible musician and can sing not only pop or jazz, but everything. It's a completely different Gaga, she is completely different from her other albuns.

"Joanne" is an album full of personal stories, stories about her father, her father's late sister Joanne (for whom the album was named), her sister, and her close friend Sonja who is suffering from cancer. Lady Gaga's lyrics also cover her breakup with actor Taylor Kinney, but this is far from being a breakup album. It is actually very uplifting despite the negative nature of some of Lady Gaga's experience.
All of the album's tracks were produced by Mark Ronson, Bloodpop, and Lady Gaga herself. The music is definitely rooted in classic sounds of American music. In particular, the country genre seems to have influenced songs like "Million Reasons," a stunning ballad about finding "one good [reason] to stay" in a relationship that's at least a little rocky, and "Sinner's Prayer," a song about women who try hard in love only to be let down. Bloodpop's production definitely kept the songs from sounding dated though. "Dancin' in Circles" is an example of more modern production with that dancehall sound that's been popular as of late, but Lady Gaga has a way of owning the sound and making it one that only she could have made. Beck also had a hand in its writing and production.
This album is one that benefits from having a deluxe edition available. It includes three bonus tracks, one of which is a song titled "Just Another Day." This is a song you will want to hear if you were a fan of Lady Gaga before she was famous or if you just became a fan of her because she sang jazz music with the legendary Tony Bennett on "Cheek to Cheek." This is not the Lady Gaga with whom many of her fans fell in love with because of her earlier hit records. This is a new version of her who's more personal and who's unafraid of exploring sounds that she did not explore with her previous albums. No matter what type of music you typically listen to, give it a chance. "Joanne" shows artistic growth and great talent.

It might be hard to believe that 8 years after her debut Lady Gaga is still capable of shocking the world. Joanne might be Germanotta's most cohesive and honest record to date and, without a doubt, this album showcases the greatness of the American songwriter and singer's vocals. One of the most cohesive albums of the decade.

This album is wonderful, from start to finish. Gaga bares her soul in every memorable melody, with a strong and emotional voice. The production is impeccable due to the legendary producers who worked with her. The lyrics are simple, but deeply beautiful. And the result is sensational. It's her best work, and one of the best albums of the year. She deserves all the awards. A true legend.

Album has very powerful songs that will become fan favourites, if not singles. Diamond Heart is a great opener track, that tells a survival story of a young Gaga, dancing on a club, hoping of a better future. Dancing in circles is classic Gaga song, I'd also consider John Wayne one.
From a storytelling point of view, Sinner's prayer with it's folk-touch should be appreciated more than I've read from reviews. Million Reasons with it's country vibe is also surprisingly fitting for Gaga. Hey Girl is a beautiful song about women not pitting each other against each other.
The title track, Joanne, is a heartbreaking song relying on acoustic guitars. It's extremely relatable for a person who has lost a loved one, and makes you cry. Angel Down serves as a commentary to society, has our young courage faded and are we lost in the age of the social as Gaga sings?
In general I cannot find flaws on this album, I'd maybe tweak the tracklist a bit but that's it mainly. I'd also add Just Another Day to standard tracklist, it reminds me so much of the Beatles!
Definitely worth listening, either you were a fan or not.

A letra, algumas vezes, soa contraditória.

A minha segunda favorita do álbum, "Dancin' In Circles". É uma "So Hapy I Could Die" mais animada, menos inocente, mais adulta, menos 'autotunada'.

Mas a Gaga já fez isso antes em "The Fame/The Fame Monster", "Born This Way" e "ARTPOP".

Assim como "Sinne'rs Prayer", "Come To Mama" não me agradou, talvez, a letra.

    Bem vindo, "Joanne"!

It is the one song on the album that RedOne was involved with, and it is the most raw. It is the sound Lady Gaga describes wanting to achieve on the album. This version of Angel Down makes me long for those supposed seven other songs they worked on together.

When all is said done, all the reviews, the mixed emotions, I'm feeling lost. I am a fan of singers from Judy Henske to Leonard Cohen to Grimes. I'm not a genre-specific fan. I thought Artpop was much more cohesive than people gave it credit; it just had too many songs (similar to Born This Way). Gaga could easily be an album and a hit artist. That being said, this album just feels overproduced. This has never been a reaction I've had; The Fame was the ultimate postmodern pop album; The Fame Monster the deconstruction of the The Fame; Born This Way the Rock-Horror melodrama album; Artpop more a quasi surrealist pop album. The production matched the tone of every album. Yet for Joanne, the "authenticity" appears performed rather than genuine because of the production. This is made even more evident by the inclusion of the Work Tape. It may have even been a mistake to include the work tape because it shows evidence for Gaga's ability to actually curate an album that could hold up lyrically, musically, and politically with the album's influences and albums from this year. Sinner's Prayer, Million Reasons, and Dancin' in Circles are all songs that also would have been better served with a stripped down production. Rather than Ronson, it would have been interesting to hear Gaga work with someone like Mark Howard and RedOne.

    It's disappointing but it's not a disaster.

Expand

Flawed though it is, this brave and canny album hits the reset button and buys her a future. [Jan 2017, p.105]

Unfortunately, therein lies the biggest problem with Joanne: for every time that Gaga seemingly breaks free of her shackles and embraces something more “real,” she quickly scuttles back into her comfort zone and hides behind glistening production. This probably isn’t quite the sound of the real Stefani Germanotta, but if you squint hard enough there’s a semblance of a real person in amongst the pop haze.

Joanne is certainly not the all-conquering opus it was intended to be and will prove divisive, but it remains a daring and exciting record, delivered from one of modern pop’s most unique and singular voices.
