The sheer, unreconstructed manliness and testosterone that flows through every riff takes you right to the heart of whatever battle Amon Amarth are embroiled in. [2 Apr 2016, p.52]

Jomsviking effectively distills all of the band's predilections into one big, dragon-headed longship of an album, sails aflame and headed straight into the mouth of Valhalla.

Of Amon Amarth’s 10 studio albums, this is the most enjoyable front-to-back listen and the truest celebration of the band’s Nordic obsessions.

The best parts of the record remain firmly in tact: The story is remarkable easy to follow and doesn’t suffer from gaps in logic or unnecessary turns toward the convoluted and you never get the sense that the band does anything but believe in the story itself.

While longtime fans might be a bit thrown off by some of the more melodic traditional metal elements throughout Jomsviking, the music is well suited to both the concept's narrative and a natural evolution of Amon Amarth's more well known style.

It's another epic ax-bludgeoning that will allow you to pick up Thor's hammer and fight to the death in gladiatorial Viking battle. Thank Odin they haven't pulled a Metallica and become a bunch of hipster pu$$ies. The perfect soundtrack for your next pillage. Full Review »

It´s been a total dissappointment to me and I hope they return to the line of Twilight of the Thunder God that was their last awesome album. I know they can´t sound again like in good old ages like in Versus the World, The Avenger or Once sent from the golden hall, but I pray to Odin they can return to the good path. They are the gods of Melodic Death Metal and they are losing their way. Full Review »
