Good simple brit pop, not lyrical strong but the tunes carry themselves, not a record to be taken too seriously.

In a year where so much badly conceived, badly written rip off material seems to qualify as Indie, Pete & The Pirates come to save the world. Perfect pop, written with wit and played by a band who clearly understand their market. Class.

one of the best albums so far in 2008. who cares about influences?! if these bite-size chunks of warm fuzzyness don't sweeten your day then maybe you have bigger problems. fragile and energetic at the same time.

  1. Little Death may well resemble stolen kisses behind the bike shed rather than an evening of prolonged love making with the object of your desire, but that is still preferable to a night in with just a box of Kleenex for company.
  2. For sure, dollops of Franz, Blur and Supergrass have been whisked into this epileptic mix of guttural, quick-witted punk-pop but Little Death is no pre-packaged ready-bake; it’s an improvised, home-cooked palate-whetter, coated in rhythm and sprinkled with bite.

As a snapshot of Friday night through Monday morning in 36 minutes flat, this is a joy. [Mar 2008, p.106]
