However, the trio perfectly maintains a balance between retro sound and the relevance of modern sound. Vocal harmonies, changing tempo, unexpected twists and turns, emotional outbursts of drums and synthesizers, which are replaced by rather quiet intimate moments and mysterious polyphony - all this sounds quite cinematic and intriguing.

    It is impossible to deny the craftsmanship with which the trio have sculpted the opening salvo of 'This Is It' and 'Loveless'. ... Sadly his talent for building epic, emotive crescendos does not overshadow his shortcomings as a lyricist.

    Take the sophistication out of sophisti-pop, and Lo Moon is just another L.A. indie R&B act who tries to bring us a higher love but can’t take things much further beyond bed and bath.
