I've been crazy thinking I was wrong Like a fool holding on too long Let it crumble, let the whole thing fall You were someone I loved Then you were... See the rest of the song lyrics

An album packed with shimmering highlights.

Love You To Death is an apt title for an album so full of effortlessly addicting pop that nonetheless exhausts a sole musical formula in every permutation.

Love You To Death is a really, really good pop record.

For now, Tegan and Sara have reached the end of a thorny, awkward path to pop perfection. Those years of uncertainty have only sweetened the realisation.

The record does play a bit like a return trip through familiar terrain, but for the most part, Love You to Death finds Tegan and Sara offering another solid soundtrack for summer romances and road-trips alike.
  6. 70
Love You to Death IS solid. In a way, it’s sort of like those now-cherished, then forgotten, 80s downtempo pop albums ala the first Human League and Modern English LPs.
  7. 42
Some passable stuff here, mostly confined to the second half.

More recent fans who found them with Heartthrob will be somewhat satisfied, but don't look for equivalent songs to "Closer" or "I Was A Fool" on this album. While I give the album a 7 in comparison to all the other junk out there, I expected more from the twins and was disappointed. Oh, and yes, 10 short songs after 3 years is just lazy.

Some of these moods are more complex than others. But every one is catchy.". Yes! In the end, every single one of them is catchy in spite of the evident flaws. It's in-your-face joyful music that isn't afraid of being criticized for lacking depth or being too "obvious". All the tracks are short and on point with a good-to-great hook. Better than their last one, for sure. Expand

The neat songwriting style of the Canadian sisters is what mainstream pop music needs to be challenging and smart again.

How about we holdThis is overdone pop garbage that will recieve critical attention and praise because it's two women making the music. How about we hold genders to equal standards? Or is that "sexist". Actually, i really want to know how long it took them to come up with "When did I become that girl I see"? Like wow, so introspective and deep that you might compare yourself to another human being going through most of the same experiences and emotions that you do! Such a daring and bold comparison.

4/10 only because it's well produced and mastered.
