It’s an all killer-no filler set that’s the culmination of everything Nick Waterhouse has accomplished for the past nine years. He might have plenty bugging him, but with soul music this joyous and exuberant, you’ll be too busy riding the groove to care.

Waterhouse's approach here is as painstaking as ever, and the writing is on par with the best across his discography. What puts this set over the top is his performances, which are more spirited and less mannered, consequently less like those of an entertainer.

Nick Waterhouse (Innovative Leisure) occasionally comes off as a little too clean and polite. But when he loosens his tie a bit, Waterhouse brings a spark to his songs that transcends era and genre.

Waterhouse scrambles our expectations of old-school musical styles while underscoring how much pure listening joy can be found in these elements. Yet Nick Waterhouse can’t really make them add up to much beyond themselves. His references remain references.

The fourth L.P. by Waterhouse finds him in his greatest form!

Although he had a lot of problems being left without record company again and trouble with his touring manager, he managed to pick up his pieces and come back with his greatest album yet called Nick Waterhouse, because it's like he introduces himself again to the music scene.
The lyrics are very dark and autobiographical, but given in a R'n'R music background that makes a beatiful contrast
Standouts:Song for Winners, By heart, El Viv, I feel an urge coming on
