    [Chad Kroeger's] shifting his band away from its antiquated post-grunge into a sound that is self-consciously fresher and mature. It's not only a commercially canny move, it generates the best Nickelback record to date.

    I am a longtime fan of Nickelback especially their raw party oriented sound of the last couple albums.     To be honest it had been a while since Nickelback had done anything new with their sound. Their last album "Here and Now" was basically just aTo be honest it had been a while since Nickelback had done anything new with their sound. Their last album "Here and Now" was basically just a continuation of what worked for them with Dark Horse. However that's not the case with this album. There's some genuine experimentation here that pays off. It's the freshest this band has felt in quite a while.

    That's not to say it's a total reinvention. There are still plenty of tracks that carry the same sound and themes the band has been using for most of their career. Still it's not hard to notice when things are different. The album is at it's best when the group is trying new things.

    "Million Miles an Hour" is a fun electronic rock song. "Edge of a Revolution" is more mature than most of their work and comments on the current political climate. "She Keeps Me Up" has an old-school feel and sound that you just don't here that much anymore. One track even has a quest appearance form rapper Flo Rida.

    All of these little departures from the band's signature style make it one of their best albums. It's the freshest they've sounded in a long time. However Nickelback fans don't need to worry about them ditching the sound that made them. They're still the same rock band, it's just that this album has a little more diversity and range.     A good solid Nickelback album with some very diverse sounding songs but they’re weakest to date. 7/10
