    I honestly feel like this album is not getting the love it deserves. I do not agree with the critics, i think they are looking for ZAYN to make a commercial record and i don't think hes that type of artist. He created a record that was true to himself and honestly its a whole vibe. His writing on this record is his best work lyrically. Vocally its his best.     A masterpiece. It is sad that stans of his former colleagues are review bombing such a beautiful album. His songs are complex and have pathos & angst. His style and showcase of his vocal ability is just increasing yet the press is being harsher. By far, the only musical genius to come out of that former boyband.

    One of the best albums I've heard so far in 2021. In it I highlight songs like "Sweat" which has an energetic percussive sound and brings back fond memories of Phil Collins's "In The Air Tonight", Unf ** kwitable It is a song about self love and "River Road" which is a beautiful poem to close the album.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After almost three years, Zayn comes back to show where he is heading, musically and artistically speaking. And after the underwhelming (and disappointing from a fan’s perspective) welcome he received with 'Icarus Falls', one could've thought he'd go to a more commercial album with radio friendly tracks that could hit #1 with the right promotion. Maybe something to get some attention like 'My Everything' or even 'Dangerous Woman' by Ariana Grande, just to then spin things up with more experimental things.

    And even if he did take some things into account (like keeping things short with only 11 tracks), Zayn, once again, went against those expectations and did what he felt like doing. Because, even if he stayed on his ground with sounds he's explored before on his debut and second album, he's definitely moving towards the direction (no pun intended) of the R&B artist he aspires to be.

    In fact, he has perfected his craft and you can hear a sound that's completely him, even if there are clear inspirations from other artists. Especially on tracks like 'Calamity', 'Connexion', **** and 'River Road'.

    He also finds the time to talk about love in the most sentimental way, without being corny. Because, as he's talking about marrying someone (presumably supermodel girlfriend Gigi Hadid) on 'When Love's Around', he gives his soul through his soft voice and transports you to this place where you're at the highest of heights with the person you love.

    This also happens with 'Tightrope', a fan favourite in which he expresses how ready he is to fall for someone, completely, with no reserve.

    But hadn’t he already fallen before the Bollywood-inspired song, I wonder? I answer myself, ‘Yes, he had’, and you can see that in the sexual songs, which some people criticise, because they haven’t gotten their head around the fact that Zayn is a 28-year-old man whose journey in a boyband ended almost six years ago.

    It could’ve been shocking then with ‘Mind of Mine’, which some called overly sexual, but I feel his sex songs aren't just for the sake of singing explicit lyrics (no shade to anyone in particular, I bop to those kind of songs too!), but actually about experiencing an exchange of energy with someone you love.

    I can especially see that with more detail on songs like 'Sweat' and even 'Windowsill', which show that sex, in a song, can be romantic, too.

    So, if you’re wondering if this is his most personal album, as it was said on a press release, I’d say, ‘Yes’. Because, even if he’s talking about his feelings for someone else (with some hints to his mental health and the place he’s at right now), opening up about what you see in others is not as easy as it sounds.

    Nobody is listening is authentic and personal, ZAYN made incredible melodies and vocals, the album has a lot of personality and is different and incredible, it didn't come to please everyone but to show the amazing music and artist he is.

    This album is so well put together, his most mature to date. Zayn's vocal is ethereal as always but to me what stands out is his confidence in his own style, his own vision. He created the Zayn sound, especially with the touch of his Desi roots in Tightrope, not many artist can have his own sound. I'm so proud of Zayn!

Following "Mind of Mine" R&B tradition this album did something great to music. Of course his cryptic lyrics is not everyone's cup of tea but if you have a good taste in poetry then this album is something you definitely need.

    this definitely felt like the most cohesive project he's released so far—not to say that every song sounds the same—and the songs flow into each other nicely. a lot of the writing felt very personal which i enjoyed and the production as well as his vocals on this are just incredible. overall it's a very chill, peaceful record and i loved it.

    This is definitely ZAYN's most soulful work. His ability to convey such raw emotion and vulnerability through not only his lyricism but also his vocals is undoubtedly impressive. NIL is his most cohesive R&B project and will definitely be in my rotation for the days and weeks to come.

    From the starting track Calamity: Zayn rapping the spoken word poetry with the lyrical perfection. The ending echoing in your mind after only the first listen, absolutely amazing.

    Then Better: Absolute perfection just so smooth and heart breaking lyrics and such good production explains why it was chosen to be a single. Absolutely amazing.

    Then Outside: you will get goosebumps when you will hear it. Khalid has written this along with Zayn and the lyrics breaks my heart. Absolutely gorgeous vocals and beautiful production.

    Then Vibez: Its a Vibe, no pun intended. Its a chill song with amazing Production. The vocals are on point. A brilliant choice for single. I am expecting remixes with this song with some rappers.

    Then When Love's Around ft. Syd: Syd did justice to this song with those beautiful breathy vocals. The song is short but a Vibe like you will feel like dancing to it. Production is great. The harmonies are gorgeous. Connexion: This song gives of such 80s R&B vibes. It seems and experimental with the miffled chorus but it fits so well and is absolutely gorgeous. The lyrics are beautiful and the vocals are on point. The layered harmonies are so gorgeous.

    Sweat: Its a sex song and I am here for it Zayn sounds absolutely gorgeous. The drum break down is such 80s RnB. And the way he says "Sweat For Me"; it can overwhelm you and turn you on. The Production is incredible. The adlibs and layered vivals are the best. **** This radiates badass/Loner energy. With chill Production but the lyrics are impressive. This song seems personal to his life and is absolutely amazing and highly underrated. Windowsill ft. Devlin: This song deserves to be a single. Its catchy, chill and absolutely hot song. It stucks in your head aftee you hear it once. Devlin's rap is a bit aggressive but its okay. Zayn killed the song. Absolutely amazing.

    Tightrope: This song, is so beautiful. "Something told me it was you" gets you in your feels. Thsi song even has a bridge verse of "Chaudhvi Ka Chaand Ho" by Mohammad Rafi which sounds so soulful and beautiful. Him singing Urdu-hindi is just incredible and angelic. Then comes River Road: the ending track. Its so beautiful. Its like a warm hug you needed. Its overwhelming and I cried to it so you may to. Its like he is telling you its going to be okay. The Production is very different but so good. The vocals and harmonies are so beautiful. Absolutely in love it. Its probably recorded in libe setting. This will bring you peace.

    Overall this album, is a Masterpiece. It will make you cry, dance, sweat (no pun intended), chill, vibe, burst in your emotions and will bring you peace.     Such a brilliant brilliant album! Well worth the 2 year wait. The way he expresses himself is beautiful! He deserves a higher rating by critics, but with the music industry there are always agendas. Why people seem to have a problem with a grown man singing about sex I don’t know. But big ups to zayn, brilliant album no skips, will be playing this one till it wears out!

    I had already loved Vibez and liked Better so I thought I should give the entire album a listen. And I definitely don’t regret it!! This easily became one of my favorite albums as someone who loves RnB. Whether he used his lower register more or delivered vocals, he was amazing in all the songs. And they’re all very different! I wasn’t expecting that at all after Better and Vibez. And II had already loved Vibez and liked Better so I thought I should give the entire album a listen. And I definitely don’t regret it!! This easily became one of my favorite albums as someone who loves RnB. Whether he used his lower register more or delivered vocals, he was amazing in all the songs. And they’re all very different!     The album speakers the power and exceptional vision zayn malik has. Listening to it feels like we are hearing deepest corner of his mind. His vocals are to the point as always. Also the way he brings touch of classical desi music into his songs just makes them exceptional.

The album is very chill and soft but is very stripped down and emotionally raw. Best songs on the album for me

    honestly the best album i have heard in a while. so happy to see some r&b music from zayn because i feel his voice just fits so well in that genre. sweat, tightrope and **** are hands down the best tracks on the album.
