Listening to Best American Record in an album also makes me happy cause it was one of my unreleased songs of all time. I freaky loved the album. And glad that Jack handled it the way it should.

Those orchestral sounds of movies from the 60s of the old and glamorous hollywood, Del Rey again demonstrates that he does not need bizarre sounds to create a masterpiece.

This album is a whole new level for Lana's music. Showcases a more mature artist who found out how to write the topics she usually writes about but not in surface level, but in a developed way. Jack Antonoff seems to be the perfect match for her: each of them bent over their own previous style to a middleground of 60's surf music. She has embraced this imagery so well in this album that now Lana Del Rey actually has developed the character to the point the character does not longer exist as an alternate version of the person itself that portraits it. We can feel true emotions by the mix of her singing mixed with the beautiful and polished production. It's an album most likely to make you cry at least in one song, beacuse it's so intimate. Standouts for me are Cinnamon Girl, California and the greatest. Expand

Her comeback album after Lust For Life, she has delivered a beautiful a no cohesive album, full of beachy and surfy songs one can easily enjoy. Her writing skills show through the entire album, it’s a very California album, as well as mood album, it’s genuine, authentic, she’s back to her roots yet maintaining the changes she has showed over the past years. She’s an artist that has inspired a new generation of artists. Wonderful album to listen while driving or in the beach or basically everywhere. Expand

Amazing album. Her best work since Ultraviolence! Highlights include: bartender happiness is a butterfly and the title track. No one does it quite like her. She is an unmatched force in pop music .

It's a remarkably sharp pop record that retains her fascination with pop-culture iconography and the rosey simplicity of a post-war America where classic rock and blue jeans ruled and takes them to much deeper places. ... Think of it as an hour-long car ride peeling down the highway with classic rock blaring out of the radio and no real destination in mind other than where your impulsive nature might take you.

A thematically rich record, heavy on mood and elegantly written in a way that positions Del Rey between Eve Babitz and Carole King. There are beguiling and evolving melodies underneath the spare piano and acoustic arrangements. [Nov 2019, p.24]
