Lana Del Rey másters her lyrical ability with NFR, resulting in one of the best pieces of art to come out of modern music. Her career up until now built on/around americana, Lana slyly disassembles her entire character for the world, for the first time showing the full genius of her artist. She subtly creates a world in this album, something she’s done before, but with this project she makes it so impressively convincing and personal that it could be compared to a classic novel. Lana pushes the boundaries of acoustic storytelling in ways that rarely are matched by even the greats of musical lyricism. Her fans had long since been giving her her flowers, but this album caught the culture’s attention in a way that solidified her into the artistic icon she’s recognized as today. Timely and provocative, personal and radically expressive, beautiful and cinematic, Norman **** Rockwell deserves its title as one of the best albums of all time. Expand

This album couldn't have any standout tracks because all of them standout. The writing and the production on this one is insane. Solidify Lana as the artist of the decade, and my personal favorite.

NFR is one of Lana Del Reys best composed and written albums. Many emotions and metaphors play into this album. I personally think this album deserves more recognition.

The best album of 2019 and on of the best albums if the best of all time. Lana showed why she is the queen of alternative music in this masterpiece. She sampled doin time and make it like her own original song. She showed she’s the best songwriter in this album specially in her song Cinnamon girl.

A step back into a more cohesive narrative and production in comparison to previous release 'Lust for Life', this album really allows Del Rey's song writing to shine through. With catchy melodies, personal yet deeply relatable lyrics and taunting piano solos, this album remains to be her best piece of work. A new step into someone iconic/

This is the best album from poet and songwriter Lana Del Rey. I put in these statement no objective reasoning, but rather subjective ones, meaning it's not about the technicalities, if she's reapeating herself and all that, but rather how this album made me feel about myself.

NFR! , A great album by Lana Del Ray with the insane production power of Jack Antonoff. It's a very dark and honest album and some of the songs are the best Lana has ever written. It's a very dark and honest album and some of the songs are the best Lana has ever written. With that being said, I felt like some lyrics repeated themselves through different songs with very little changes made to them, which to me , downgraded the power they hold. You don't want to overuse a certain lyric / expression, as good as it might me.
On some songs it felt like layering is missing, and they lacked an edge that was needed (for example 'California' would be a 10/10 for me if that outro was grander... still a great song though)
Lana's vocals are overall superb, and the emotions are felt through every note she sings.
Production is also very impressive with tracks like 'Venice **** , 'California' or 'The greatest' , each producer gave their own special touch to the tracks, but the greatest and most creative productions are definitely on Jack Antonoff's (and frequently Lana Del Ray's) tracks.

Favorite Tracks: 'Venice **** **** it I love you', 'California', 'Happiness is a butterfly', 'hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like my to have - but I have it' .

It's a remarkably sharp pop record that retains her fascination with pop-culture iconography and the rosey simplicity of a post-war America where classic rock and blue jeans ruled and takes them to much deeper places. ... Think of it as an hour-long car ride peeling down the highway with classic rock blaring out of the radio and no real destination in mind other than where your impulsive nature might take you.

A thematically rich record, heavy on mood and elegantly written in a way that positions Del Rey between Eve Babitz and Carole King. There are beguiling and evolving melodies underneath the spare piano and acoustic arrangements. [Nov 2019, p.24]
