Please Be Mine is a charming record that remains engaging and consistently pleasant, but you have to feel that there’s another gear in Molly Burch’s engine-room that could get the most out of her prodigious talent.

Its conceptual limits are conspicuously narrow.

Ultimately, there is a vagueness to Burch’s lyrics that do not push for a full understanding of the artist.

Her deep breathy voice is simply enchanting and evolves beautifully throughout this album. Her debut single, Downhearted, was a real treat to discover last year and this album delivers in every way I had hoped. It’s easy to get lost in Molly's mesmerizing voice, but it would be a real crime to overlook her band. The subtle balance of retro country, soul, and jazz makes the music an excellent choice to sit back and take in. The guitar work is nothing short of delicious too. Full Review »
