Vidal’s newfound penchant for quiet introspection, providing a fantastic centerpiece to this EP, which contains more riveting ideas and modes of expression than most full-length albums.

Sometimes it feels like they're playing two different songs, working from two different ideas. There's no steady view of the horizon anymore. It's disorienting, but charming, to hear their parts blend, settle, and separate over and over again.

Die-hard fans may not like the style change, but I think it’s a step in the right direction.

Abe Vigoda is not quite up to the level of a band like No Age, but if this EP is any indication, they do have the potential to hone and fine-tune their sound. Reviver would be a great introduction for a potential listener, and fans of post-rock will probably find a lot to like with Abe Vigoda.

Perhaps touring with distortion lovers No Age rubbed off on the L.A. quartet, but it's moving beyond the "tropical" skate-punk tag with squall. Smart move.

Points are docked for including the half-realized noise experiment 'Endless Sleeper,' but Reviver captures one of L.A.'s most promising new bands beginning to come fully into its own.

Under The Radar'The Reaper' is a fine blend of noisy guitars and busy rhythm, but a minimalist cover of Stevie Nicks 'Wild Heart' makes the most lingering impression. [Spring 2009, p.75]
