Wanted to like but a lot of filler songs combined with subpar singles. I’m disappointed tbh :(

The album over is not the best, her previous album was a much better album as it was cohesive. I gave the album a 4 because it has so good songs (Easy, should’ve said it and used to this)

Expand

My Oh My tiene potencial para ser un hit, lástima que sólo con colaboraciones Camila pueda tener exito, sola no puede. El álbum es bueno pero no mucho. Ojalá para el próximo nos sorprenda con algo bueno

Lots of paid positive reviews for pop albums these days and this is no different. Can also see lots of bots in the user section giving positives.
With that said it's an average album. Lots of autotune because she's not the world's greatest singer (which I'm sorry.. she should be backup then). Just a solid 4-5/10 here since she included some real instruments on lots of tracks.

Pop bem genérico, letras bem iguais e razas, mas dá pra ouvir. Pra mim, as unicas musicas boas de verdade são "This Love" (letra 10) e "First Man" (letra super bonita), as outras são todas iguais. Acho que a Camila se esforçou em escrever músicas pro Shawn e esqueceu do resto kkk. Pra mim o ponto alto do álbum foram os vocais incriveis dela, mas o album em si, nada de surpreendente.

I love Camila Cabello, but this album was fairly disappointing.
One the one hand, most of the songs showcase very impressive vocals, as well as diverse andinteresting production. Some tracks are absolutely amazing (Shameless, First Man, Easy, Cry For Me), super fun (My Oh My, Should've Said It, Liar) or very nice & soft (Dream of You. Used to This).

On the other hand, many songs have very flat (or even mediocre) lyrics like Bad Kind of Butterflies, Feel It Twice, Living Proof and even Señorita. They all have potential but are too underwhelming overall.

On her self-titled debut album, released in January 2018, Camila succeeded at her goal of only including the perfect songs, she did not want any fillers and had a selection of 10 tracks that were all of great quality. That is not an easy task when most of the tracks are ballads - which can be either beautiful or very boring - but she did it. However, on Romance, Camila does not accomplish that, many songs could have been removed from the project, and even those that are good enough do not come close to her earlier work (except the absolute best few ones).

Moreover, for a concept album, constructed around the theme of falling in love and exploring a romantic relationship, the album is very disorganised and lacks cohesion. Tracks like 'Cry For Me' feel out of place, despite being great standalone records.

Overall, while it does include some solid material, the album is underwhelming, lacklustre and disappointing when compared to its predecessor.
Camila has the potential to do much better.

The excess use of autotune makes me dislike some of the songs that have potential, and the overall sound of the album sounds relatively the same each song. There’s only about 3-5 songs i’ll continuous listen to, it’s really a disappointment that i hope she learns from.

I just heard she released her 2nd album and i'm disappointed. The use of auto-tune is worse than her first album. So no i didn't enjoyed listening to this album.

Simply put: It wasn't good. Her debut had a fresh sound, but Romance just capitalizes on her debut's success and the sound of its successful tracks. It seems like she had no artistic growth. I'll give her a credit for the aesthetics, though.

Album seemed to be pulling from a lot of other artist and when I listened to it felt like it wasn’t really hers or really even original there were some high points in the album and sonically she’s amazing just wish the album felt/was more original

Her voice sounds so strong on the album and she really experimented with the production but most of the songs did not stand out and fell flat. I do like how in love and happy she seems to be but the songs are hard to really differentiate between each other at times.

It's okay...shows little growth from the first album and, even though it's decent, it's more pretentious than complex. Best tracks: Living Proof, Used to this, First Man.

This album displays how much Camila has grown as an person and as an artist. Each song of the songs tells a conclusive story about love and makes you feel the emotions. Confusion, attraction, sadness, vulnerability, anger, and acceptance. There is not one skip on this albu.

For an album focusing on one singular topic (especially, when it’s in the title), this album spends 14 tracks not really saying much we didn’t already know, leading to a lot of album filler. The only thing that makes it remotely interesting is the very public romance between Camila and Shawn Mendes.

Easy and Dream Of You talk about how Shawn makes her feel loved and such, but aside from a pretty but not groundbreaking intro, the latter doesn’t say anything interesting in the slightest. Easy at least has some nice little personal tidbits thrown in, even if the “anything else” questions in the lyrics are grating.
Feel It Twice and Should’ve Said It seem to both talk about the fact that they both regret not making a move sooner, but having two songs saying this feels pretty redundant. Also Señorita is here. It’s fine, I guess

There are a couple highlights from the album:
Living Proof is a grandiose track likening Shawn to being a gift from god himself, and yes Camila WE KNOW. My Oh My feat. DaBaby is a surprisingly fun yet dark track about a guy who only wants the physical things from her and she knows it, but can’t resist. DaBaby also delivers a rap verse that I don’t despise, unlike Young Thug’s verse on Havana.
First man is a lovely song dedicated to her dad, promising him that he’s a good man, but that she will always love and appreciate him too.
The guitar and Camila’s sneering growls on Cry For Me, give it quite a bit of raw, desperate presence.

Overall, while none of the songs struck me as outright bad, far too many are just too uninteresting to go back to. Just stick to the couple of interesting ones and skip the rest of the album

Un álbum que supera a su antecesor, pero aún así no se siente una coherencia en este trabajo, las canciones se sienten muy dispersas, y algunas se notan sobreproducidas como "easy", que usa por encima de lo aceptable el autotune. 67/100

Cabello’s willingness to assist in [the music industry’s embrace of the “Latin” sound] caricature elsewhere distracts from the otherwise interesting Spanish-classical and Santana-esque riffs on Romance.

Throughout “Romance,” the pop machinery clicks cleverly and efficiently into place around Cabello’s voice. The productions tend to be sparse — spooky electronic sounds, an occasional acoustic or electric guitar, hefty but discreet drums — and even where the choruses ratchet up, Cabello’s voice often stays close and confiding.

Romance is a solid, sexually charged sophomore entry that places growth at center-stage and keeps us wanting more without going limp.
