It's a joy to hear, and it's comforting that Sainte-Marie is still writing amazing songs, taking firm social and political stands, performing with spirit, joy, and passion, and pretty much doing what she's always done.
-
Even if Sainte-Marie tries to cram too much into her joyous return to the limelight, Running for the Drum is proof that a path that began with the powerful "Universal Soldier" back in the early 1960s won't be fading gracefully into the usual sunset of folk retirement.
-
Running For The Drum has a lot to offer, and is sure to stand out as one of 2009's more rewarding oddities.
-
Even if Drum is a bit too frontloaded, the album hits more often than it misses, and it marks a welcome return for Sainte-Murray.
-
Running for the Drum may confuse people, the way Sainte-Marie always does, because her music goes all over the place.
