  1. This record demands a room full of quiet and your undivided attention. Listen to it any other way and you may be disappointed, even bored, by it. And that will be your hard luck, because Silver and Gold is Neil Young at his hushed, acoustic best: simple, romantic, direct.

    This one finds him getting almost downright sappy. But it suits him well.
  5. Gently acoustic, peacefully steeped in nostalgia and remembrance, it generates a warm glow of grace...
  6. Overall, though, this is one of those odd little albums that the ever-prolific Young comes up with periodically -- dotted with a few flashes of inspiration, ultimately sunk by a lot of by-rote artistic adequacy.

    This is Neil Young at his very best. Honestly one of the most amazing albums I have even heard in my entire life. Neil Young stays entirely This is Neil Young at his very best.     The older I am, the better this album sounds. I like live DVD version with some extra songs (taken from Looking Forward CSNY album). Strong The older I am, the better this album sounds.
