    First of all, this album already ended Traumatica with ease. Lady Gaga doesn't deserve rights after releasing the terrorist atomic bomb named "Chromatica", or Traumatica for wise ones. Smile shows Katy Perry has definetely changed since Witness. She's more mature and, in my opinion, this is not a chiclé based those stupid critical reviews. Smile describes her real feelings and the realFirst of all, this album already ended Traumatica with ease.     Katy Perry, minha cara, o álbum parece bem enjoativo, e muitas músicas são como um pop rock, o álbum quer trazer de volta o antigo estilo da Katy como um álbum inovador remontado para parecer atual, porém na minha opinião não deu certo, tirando pouquíssimas consideradas para mim boas, é meio que um Prism com Teenage Dream e um pouco de One Of The Boys, Katy que tal dar uma pausa paraKaty Perry, minha cara, o álbum parece bem enjoativo, e muitas músicas são como um pop rock, o álbum quer trazer de volta o antigo estilo da Katy como um álbum inovador remontado para parecer atual, porém na minha opinião não deu certo, tirando pouquíssimas consideradas para mim boas, é meio que um Prism com Teenage Dream e um pouco de One Of The Boys, Katy que tal dar uma pausa para pensar melhor nos conceitos? pois Smile não colou muito.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the tumultuous release around her 'Witness' era, Katy seemed on the right track for a comeback. 'Never Really Over' was an infectious slice of electro-pop with a killer chorus. The singles that followed though, were unmemorable and hollow. Going in different sonic directions and nothing really sticking out. Along with this, there seemed to be little actual depth or theme, with everything feeling slightly confused. When the album dropped, it felt like a non event, an artist releasing an album with a wimper. The content? Well the good thing is 'Cry About It Later' is a euphoric throwback to the sonics of the 80's, along with 'Champagne Showers'. The rest of the album feels deflated, a 'I'm sorry for Witness and this is how I healed' vibe that doesn't really go anywhere. No song pushes the envelope where pop music is concerned, which begs the question. If the artist feels half invested and keen to try and stay in a sonic familiar lane, whats the point?… Expand

    The album is by far her most empowering yet.
    It represents a lot about positivity, empowerment and just getting yourself back.
    If Prism is about Maturity, Witness is Experimenting... Smile is Rejuvenation/Revival.

    There's not a whole lot to say about this album, it's largely forgettable. The only real highlight is Never Really Over, everything else is filled with cliches, generic production, and most of the hooks aren't nearly as catchy as Katy's best work. It's, at best, a half-decent attempt at recreating her old hits, but without any of the spark that made them such great pop music.

    I don't know if anyone from Katy's team will read this, but if they do, please do something about her artistic choices, she has been doing the same kind of music since the teenage dream era. If you pick random singles she has released since 2010, you can't say which is from which album.     I really liked Katy Perry until Witness, but this album is tragic, terrible songs, terrible lyrics, terrible concept and kinda basic and childish for a woman who’s on her mid 30s .

    There's a reason if Katy's not getting the commercial success she used to in Teenage Dream. She's never evolved musically. She's always playing it safe. This album makes no exception : It is a bland pop record that just sounds like some Teenage dream B-sides. The only way she could get out of this critical and commercial flop curse would be to surprise her public with a more audacity.

    Disappointed, this album is all cliché music by Katy Perry from the 2010s. Nothing new, same boring beats, 16 year old teen lyrics. Sad Clown: This is Katie's true face. She brought nothing new to pop music, except for boredom and apathy.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    While Perry finds the occasional moment of quality here (Smile and Tucked both feel like the best possible music we could get from Katy Perry in 2020), Smile is an album searching for an identity—and when it fails, it falls back on lazy writing.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
