    Fraco, esquecível e imemorável. Katy consegue ser melhor, mas infelizmente Smile é um álbum que one poeira em relação a outros lançamentos.

    You have to be honest, for an artist of the stature of Katy Perry this is not a good album. It's not soo bad and it's okay that i wanted to make a personal album, however that doesn't mean that this album is forgetful anf boring.

    A very bland and typical pop album. Sounds like a generic target ad commercial. There are a few interesting lyrics and solid bangers, but they are spread too thin to save this album. It looks like Katy's career is coming to its end

    I was expecting more from this album may be a different sound of her but No, she didn't grow as an artist for me. She always in the safe zone based on her current and past albums. I didn't get the vision or direction of this album that makes me want to keep listening more. Maybe I will relisten if this album will grow on me.

    O álbum poderia ter seguido a sonoridade de "Never Really Over" e "Harleys in Hawaii", mas pegou um caminho sem muito brilho, cheio de fillers e músicas esquecíveis. Katy Perry é talentosa demais para um album como esse.

    One of the worst Katy's album. She hasn't grown up at all. Typical rhythms and lines. Sounds like demo-version of TD. Katy's main problem is that she's afraid of going away from her typical Bubble gum outfit. She tryes to experiment but want to have TD's success. She wants to sit on both chairs but it's impossible and that's her main rwason of failure.

    Smile has a few good songs on the album, but the lyrics get a little too repetitive. Tucked remains the best from the album. Not the best album released by Katy.

En letras (como casi siempre) se denota mucho poder, su voz en algunas canciones como What Makes a Woman es en verdad muy suave y agradable al oído, pero es la única canción del disco junto a Only Love que pude escuchar hasta el final sin aburrirme. Un álbum que obviamente recuerda a la¡Triste pero real! Katy Perry de verdad entró en el flop. No podia creerlo hasta que escuche este disco.     I've followed KP's career for so many years now and i gotta say this album is so generic and mediocre.
    She gave us masterpieces as teenage dream and prism and then ruined her whole career with witness and now this, smile.
    The only reason i put 3 is because of CAIL and WMAW. I really miss the old Katy.

I AM NOT A K-POP FAN, but if you compare Smile with any other K-Pop album that has similar deepness in its lyrics, you'll see a huge difference in the input effort and technical quality. And gee… I'm not even talking about artistic quality.

    I don't know if anyone from Katy's team will read this, but if they do, please do something about her artistic choices, she has been doing the same kind of music since the teenage dream era. If you pick random singles she has released since 2010, you can't say which is from which album. I'm not giving 0 to smile only because of the standard production of the songs (that certainly comes from high investment in equipment, producers, etc, not from Katy's work).    … Expand

    The main problem with the album is how forgettable it is. There are no catchy choruses and the production is very mild. This album feels like almost an afterthought. With Witness, while it might have been a mixed bag of songs, at least you remembered the ones that stood out and it has decent production. With Smile, every song feels very tired and outdated.

    There's not a whole lot to say about this album, it's largely forgettable. The only real highlight is Never Really Over, everything else is filled with cliches, generic production, and most of the hooks aren't nearly as catchy as Katy's best work. It's, at best, a half-decent attempt at recreating her old hits, but without any of the spark that made them such great pop music.

    I wanted to like this album and was curious what Katy's sound would be after her being such a strong presence on the musical stage in the last 2 decades. I do enjoy some songs, mostly Daisies but overall the music feels generic and impersonal and I don't see myself going back to it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the tumultuous release around her 'Witness' era, Katy seemed on the right track for a comeback. 'Never Really Over' was an infectious slice of electro-pop with a killer chorus. The singles that followed though, were unmemorable and hollow. Going in different sonic directions and nothing really sticking out. Along with this, there seemed to be little actual depth or theme, with everything feeling slightly confused. When the album dropped, it felt like a non event, an artist releasing an album with a wimper. The content? Well the good thing is 'Cry About It Later' is a euphoric throwback to the sonics of the 80's, along with 'Champagne Showers'. The rest of the album feels deflated, a 'I'm sorry for Witness and this is how I healed' vibe that doesn't really go anywhere. No song pushes the envelope where pop music is concerned, which begs the question. If the artist feels half invested and keen to try and stay in a sonic familiar lane, whats the point?… Expand

    We have 5 previously released songs on here. We have the generic "Never Really Over" that also could’ve been sung by Zara Larsson, the typical 2010 Katy kidz bop material with "Smile", "Daisies", a song that is supposed to be deep but the fact that it sounded dated on arrival takes away all the attention from its lyrics, "Harleys in Hawaii", which seems to be a fan favorite but to me it sounds like an Ariana Grande reject and the terribly boring "What Makes a Woman", which at least has decent lyrics.

    What else is left to unpack here? A lot of bland stuff ("Champagne Problems", "Resilient"), more dated stuff ("Tears Eyes"), I don’t know what "Tucked" was supposed to be and "Only Love" which sounds like something you've heard a million times before but at least it has good lyrics. Oh and with "Not the End of the World" we have another song that sounds like Ariana didn’t want it on "thank u, next". But that one is actually one of the better songs on the album. "Cry About It Later" has an interesting and different production in the verses but then its chorus comes on and ruins the whole thing. So all in all this is another 1/10 project from Katy for me. The album is pretty bland as it sounds either generic, boring or dated. Congrats on your baby Katy but this album was not it. If I had to pick favorites I would point out "Not the End of the World".     Just not a good album, the only song that stands out is NRO and it’s a song from last year that stinks of desperation to put on the album to boost streams.

Not a single interesting song, no risks taken, no experimentation, no thing noteworthy. It would have gotten at least a 3 or 4 if she put any effort into trying something even a little different from the empty-headed, bubblegum popIt's just simply...... Not good.     It should be called Frown rather than Smile. There wasn’t a single ounce of originality in this album. She hasn’t been able to release good music since 2013. And even that was a stretch. Come on Katy. Give us good music, that you put your heart and soul into. This just ain’t it. You may have finally got back your smile, but you need to get back your talent..

    Disappointed, this album is all cliché music by Katy Perry from the 2010s. Nothing new, same boring beats, 16 year old teen lyrics. Sad Clown: This is Katie's true face. She brought nothing new to pop music, except for boredom and apathy.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
