Blackly comedic, this is a great debut. [Nov 2018, p.112]

Street Worms is a fine example of how to subvert expectations, and it’s a fine example of how to do ‘punk’ in 2018.

The depraved and descending post-punk of ‘Down in the Basement’ sets the blueprint for Viagra Boys throughout most of the album, and on some tracks it feels a bit repetitive at times. The factor that distinguishes these tracks from each other are the odd and uncouth characters being described.

Street Worms, their debut album, is a grand introduction. Viagra Boys manage to mock everyday negative qualities--boasted virility, misplaced classism, and blissful ignorance--with sincerity and ambivalence.

Some of the songs felt half-assed and should have probably been cut out of the album, but the good ones were very good. Definitely a unique sound in the post-punk era that manages on certain songs to separate itself entirely from the too-smooth pop sound that trickles through in a lot of new artists debuts. If anything, the only songs I would have cut out are the over-saturated punky ones. Expand

Viagra Boys' debut is a blistering album full of raw and loud energy. This is unlike any post-punk album I've heard. Its a little rough round the edges, and some songs do fall flat, but when its good, its really **** good
