Delicate and crystalline in sound & execution, what we have here is brave, innovative, unexpected, and brilliant.

‘Tableau’ sees the The Orielles venture into the unknown, with the sole ambition of testing their limits (or lack thereof). They succeed, resurfacing with new vision, and setting an example of what can occur when artists have the opportunity to revel in full, untethered, boundless creativity.

On their fourth album, Tableau, the exploratory, ambitious side of the band’s music has never been more clear. Many of the songs pick through various genres, magpie-style, subverting expectations.

Tableau is definitely the work of a young band growing and exploring, looking for new territory to explore, new feelings to delve into, and exciting sounds to dig into.

There’s a lot to take in on Tableau – maybe, at times, almost too much – but it’s another solid record from West Yorkshire’s very own experimental art-poppers.

    An intriguing, stylistic volte-face. [Nov 2022, p.94]

    Captivating, magical and original.
Tableau is much more than a collection of songs, it offers a storyline, spoken word, short pieces of music alongside more 'normal' songs, but Tableau is anything but run of the mill, it will hook you in, like a good book, or a good film, expanding your enjoyment of, and offering an insight into the world of The Orielles,. Highly recommended
