Her most personal and most cohesive album yet. It is very well produced. The lyrics are so relatable, raw and honest. She really outdid herself on this album. A masterpiece indeed and one of the best pop album this decade.

O problema deste álbum é a canção '7 rings'.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ariana Grande shows a side of her traumatic life after her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died last year, her engagement with SNL star Pete Davidson broke off, and the Manchester attack in 2017. She express her feelings about loving and losing and being needy after all that. In tracks like “ghostin”, “fake smile”, “imagine” and “needy”, she gets real about her life and how she can’t fake her emotions anymore; she says sorry to her fiancé for feeling really sad about her ex who died while imagining a world where she could be with him again, and accepting that she might feel neediness for loving someone or wanting to feel loved. Ariana never expressed that much in an album like she did with this one. Best album of 2019 for sure. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

I'd be lying if I said I disliked every single track. I'd say "Bloodline" and "Ghostin" are the two standout tracks of this album, but unfortunately, everything else about it just weighs it down. The general sound of the album with the Hip-Hop/Trap beats just doesn't fit Ariana Grande at all. Her style is more Pop and R&B, that's where she shines, but this just really falls flat. The album as a whole does not truly showcase her vocals. We get an element of that in "In My Head" when she sings the title of the track, which is the high point, but then follows that with the "Skrrt, skrrt" which completely ruins it, like seriously?
The album's singles are some of the worst Ariana has ever put out in her career. "7 Rings" is just awful, Ariana basically flexes like a rapper over trap sounds and it makes her look and sound like a total poser. "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" is incredibly irritating and vapid. As mentioned before, the trap sound just doesn't work, and just like "7 Rings", it is the complete antithesis of what Ariana stands for. "Thank U, Next" was okay at best, I appreciate the lyrics -minus the totally unnecessary F bombs in the chrous- but the production is still rather dull and boring and I wouldn't put it on my iTunes or Spotify.
The songs are forgettable, the singles are a joke, and whatever messages she does try to convey in the album tracks are completely lost by such a lackluster and undesirable production, with the exception of "Bloodline" and "Ghostin".
Overall, this was a really disappointing delivery from Ariana Grande. Just go listen to Sweetener instead.

If this is ongoing sympathy for her extremely difficult circumstances these past few years, it’s not doing her musical legacy any favors. Everything here is so trendy that it’s stale by the time you’re done listening to it. Nothing authentic or timeless.

Ariana: you can do so much better. And you’re a singer, so stop whispering and talking throughout four minutes of a song just because it’s trendy. You’re sufficiently talented to set trends rather than follow them.

Sweetener was a great album. But this one is her opus. Current, cohesive, playful, melancholy, understated, and refined, Grande’s “thank u next” is a Millennial masterpiece. The heartbreaking “ghostin” is possibly the best song she has given us to date, and “break up with your girlfriend, im bored,” is the Twitter-era, penthouse-jam we need in 2019.

The album is boring, as all song sound nearly identical. I can give her credit as the self love themes are quite nice, but they degenerate into pure selfishness as we arrive at break up with your girlfriend. Lyrically, the songs are childish, and the album shows no growth between sweetener and thank u, next. In my opinion, it is really overrated, much like Ariana herself.

Being a fan of her since her 2013 debut studio album "Yours Truly" I have been able to see Grande's musical evolution. She began in the music industry as this little girl meant to be a main pop icon but with a lack of confidence and extrovertism. Through the years she has been able to find her own sound with her previous album "Sweetener", released in August 2018. The different sound this album had in comparison with her first three was shocking but at the same time empowering. I really thought Grande had found her sound and voice through American producer Pharrell Williams but, in Thank U Next, sadly, I don't see any evolution but a mix of all her previous songs. Some songs on the album like Needy, Ghostin or the title track are deep, personal and emotional but we can't name this neither the best or the most political album of Grande. Ariana, I wanna know you. I want to know your opinion on politics, on love, on climate change, on life. I see you tweeting about all this topics but I really want to listen to you talking about them in your music. basic and the same generic music from her as always, no artistic growth, basic lyrics and comercial music

Perfect example of how popular music has became absolute trash. The songs do not make up an album of any sort of meaning nor completeness. Nor do they have any meaning in each of them.

It was an ok album, songs such as NASA, ghostin and bloodline are fantastic, however, a lot of the songs seem rushed and repetitive. thank u next was boring and a little overrated. Her worst album so far, it was quite disappointing just because I thought sweetener was so amazing and so very creative. Expand

The sassiest Ariana I've ever heard. Trap infused bops, and fan favorite tracks!!! Girl, you slayed us you badass!

Absolutely amazing!! I just listened to it and it's really different, every song has a different meaning and vibe but they still serve the same concept. I don't know if her other albums are this great maybe I will give them a listen. She really should win at the next grammys.

Ariana is a very talented artist with a beautiful voice. That being said, Thank u next is not her best work. It's a bit repetitive and incoherent. I am still looking forward to whatever she comes out with next.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It sounds awful and more on **** stuff and annoying theme not appropriate for modern women of this millennium. Hope it'll be the last album ever in the 2010's to sound like this. I hate to say this but it sucks. Ariana Grande could've done better. Expand

Overrated. Only bc it feels rushed and Ariana can do so much better... Maybe one or two more months. However i wont say this is calculated, she is an artist, and her music express how she feels, this point out my third reason of why i dont like this record: trap. The genre ruins music. Maybe with other prodution she could have the change the game. But the public was satisfied so... I guessOverrated. Only bc it feels rushed and Ariana can do so much better... Occasionally, rarely, a record comes along that restores our faith. If this is the future of pop-music, then sign me up.

thank u, next builds on Sweetener by switching modes of scale. It’s less about looking at the world than being by yourself, more focused on the textures of memory than our actions stemming from it. ... thank u, next is also Ariana’s most stunning vocal album.

[7 Rings] is a hit, but isn’t actually all that great, using Rodgers and Hammerstein’s My Favourite Things as its sing-song musical base. The rest of the album remains of interest for its evolutions in sound, delivery and attitude.
