Unfinished and lo-fi, Linkin Park ditch long time collaborator to produce a jarring and unfocused record with few standout tracks. Guests like Tom Morello are wasted on pointless interludes as the tracks blend into a long, noisy jam session. A surprisingly lazy effort from musicians brimming with creativity and a willingness to innovate.

I don't really see what is so great about this album. I was interested when I heard Linkin Park was aiming for a heavy sound with the Hunting Party but when I listened to the album there were very few songs that I liked. I highlight Final Masquerade and A Line In The Sand. The rest is sub par to me. Expand

    Worst. Linkin Park Album. Ever.

This album doesn't sound anything like Linkin Park. At all. It sounds like the B-Side of some punk band that didn't make big in the 90's. It's horrible. The band stated that this album was a "Prequel" to Hybrid Theory, but it's not. Sounds like an attempt to bring back 90's punk rock. If you want a "Prequel" to Linkin' Park's album Hybrid Theory then

Otherwise, don't bother buying this album unless your a punk rock fanatic.

This album sounds like a bad Rise Against album. This album is filled with ripped melodys and **** lyrics. Listen to their song "War" and the melody is nearly Identical to "True North" by Bad Religion, a band who toured with them earlier this year when the album was being produced. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

From reading that it was 'heavy' and recommended for fans of their earlier albums "hybrid theory" and "meteora", I approached this album with skeptical optism but told meself to keep an open mind....

At track 9 now, Mark the Graves. Perhaps this one could be a hit for the pop rock anthem lovers. I like time to breathe in music, and this has it.. Might be, SHOULD BE the single to

The previous tracks 1-8 if i could sum it off bluntly, was cheesy. hard rifts yes, but along poppy melodic vocals... lame. apart from a familiar scream towards the end of Mark The Graves, Chester's singing loud throughout the album, but he's found a range thats not screaming out.. but rather whiny.. like a poof version of M Shadows (sorry).

Some parts actually remind me of A7X!. Story telling vocals, worked so well with classic rock hits.. but just seems predictable, anthemy, and 1.2.3 beating of heads. Being a fan of bands like Tool, Deftones, .. even A7X... LP is more related to imagine dragons than any of the aforementioned...

2:00 into track 12... Line in the Sand, one of the better tracks so far.

conclusion? Track 9 & 12 not bad. Rest: Not my thing.

This record is just an utter mess. Lots of overlong horrible punk tunes with labored choruses by Chester, ripping-off one song from another (compare the choruses from GATS, Wastelands and ALITS) and even ripping-off a Rammstein tune (Final Masquerade) - all seasoned with "virtuoso" soloing by Brad. Worst Linlin Park's album by far. It proves enough that Linkin Park nowadays is much betterThis record is just an utter mess. A heavy fun and quite surprising album, Chester sounds amazing, he will always be missed.

Straining a little too hard for intellectual depth and emotional intensity, The Hunting Party is ultimately let down by its lack of focus and poor quality control. [Summer 2014, p.93]

Excitingly, War's chaotic punk and the frantic Guilty All The Same are as raw as they've ever been, but The Hunting Party is the sound of Linkin Park coming in from the cold. [Aug 2014, p.109]

All in all, The Hunting Party is a solid record on its own, but it feels too repetitive, uninspired, and generic to equal its immediate predecessors.
