Radio bait "Until It's gone" feels limp, but the itchy noise engulfing the bracing "War" and the adenoidal clawing of "Keys To The Kingdom" prove the band still has swagger. [20 Jun 2014, p.64]

Excitingly, War's chaotic punk and the frantic Guilty All The Same are as raw as they've ever been, but The Hunting Party is the sound of Linkin Park coming in from the cold. [Aug 2014, p.109]

The result of all these change-ups is an album that is both aggressive and progressive, while still maintaining Linkin Park’s innate pop sensibility.
  4. All of this makes for an interesting listen, even if the record can tend to drag on a little bit toward the end.

It's not high art, and it won't land them on any year-end best-of lists, but it will sell a load of copies, and it's just the thing for your next lousy day.

Make no mistake--this is the record that Linkin Park know they should have made seven years ago.

Far from sounding as if they're grasping at straws, Linkin Park seem rejuvenated, proving there is value in the cliché of returning to roots.

If you're looking for another Meteora then you will be disappointed. HOWEVER, this is something else. It's not an album that mashes together a couple of cool sounding tunes and some vocals; it's much more than that. It feels passionate in comparison to an orator who knows their stuff.

Living Things felt like LP was trying to go for a run after having their legs amputated. The Hunting Party sounds like they got a rocket propelled wheel chair.
