The Last Goodbye is a definite improvement over A Moment Apart, which felt a bit too overcooked in retrospect. Here, they get the balance right, refining their sound without rehashing it, and trying new ideas without sacrificing their own character.

With all these varied components coming together to form a cohesive unit — a family, if you will — ODESZA cleverly offer a reminder that they're making world-changing stuff, and we're lucky to be alive at the same time they're making music.

This is a cinematic body of work that triumphs in its ability to meld a plethora of electronic styles together with the glue-like emotional intent of sentimental reminiscence, and poignantly reminds the listener to hold dear their loved ones.

It didn't feel like it had that Odesza touch that I really loved in A Moment Apart, and even in albums before that. It feels like Odesza listened to the criticism they received from music critics on their last album, which they should never have done. I recently listened to their song "Hopeful," which they said never made the final album. It sounded like the classic Odesza I loved, and I honestly hope that the revert back to the sounds on A Moment Apart. Full Review »

Light of day is amazing and more their style but the rest of the album I'm not sure what they were doing. I've never had to skip or got bored with an Odesza album but it's pretty bad and uncreative. Almost like they went for pop radio or something. Light of day is insanely good though, made me cry. Full Review »

Solid album that goes back to ODESZA's roots whilst incorporating new additions to their signature sound.
