To be certain, the push and pull is lost through most of The State vs. Radric Davis, replaced by a straddling of the line between commercial and street rap.

He’s clearly made The State to a template, and it suffers as a result, particularly when he blatantly courts radio on the unimaginative, lifeless likes of “Sex In Crazy Places” and the Usher-assisted “Spotlight."

His mumbling drawl is both obstacle and point of fascination; you're left cupping your ear trying to decipher his flow. You're engaged, but sadly everything else about the album is disappointing.
