Their best work in years. I was worried it would be a repeat of past records and boring, but it turns out I didn’t need to Influences are on their sleeves but they bring their own spin as well. The songwriting is tight. The performances are tight. The theme is interesting. As is the case with their other releases, there are some overly self-indulgent moments. You could argue that that isTheir best work in years. The band have lost none of the piss and vinegar that's marked every stylistic diversion that came before. They're just taking those component parts to build one barnstorming monster of a record.

Even if The Will to Live ultimately proves the old adage that you can't will a masterpiece into existence, what's here is the work of a great band with a fine songwriter giving their all in the studio and playing at the top of their game, and that makes it a great listen, if not quite an example of Ultimate Rock.

Like most of Stickles’ efforts, some editing would help tighten the flow of the record, but as it stands, The Will to Live is a success with Titus Andronicus channeling their punk core straight into the arena rock rafters.
