Parquet Courts needs an extra injection of grandiosity (as 2014’s towering “Instant Disassembly”) when they slow things down, and they don’t always provide it on the songs that need it the most.

Unsurprisingly, it flies the Wire and Minutemen flags high. More surprising are the occasional nods to funk and '60s bubblegum. [Jun 2018, p.95]

However, the songs are still ridiculously good, in a way that surprises me every time I listen to it. There's some serious rippers, and the slower songs are very sweet. It's very engaging and very easy to like. Full Review »
