Fast forward several years, and we find Will, her first record since 2013’s ‘Nepenthe’ both taking her music further into more straightforward terrain while remaining doggedly, indelibly weird.

There are moments of a chamber ensemble compactness and clarity, but at times it all gets suspended in and blurred b clouds of ambience. [Jun 2016, p.95]

Will is a wobbly baby step from a well-honed sound to something greater. There’s not much reason to listen to it over any of her other albums, and it’s less interesting for the music it contains than the music it promises.

Her construction techniques have always made for gigantic sonic treetops, and even better, the wind that rustled the entire forest. But when concentrating on placement rather than scope, simple additions don’t go as far.

With the great"Will" is not the best album by Julianna Barwick, but it's for sure her best effort to create something new and innovative. With the great "Nepenthe" we felt the same vibes from her previous works, but nothing new. "Will" arrives with new shapes and views from her own music. She brings synths and electronic layers in association with her amazing singing style. That's worth. Full Review »
