Not all the songs are as well-defined as the skittish pop of Our Eyes, however, and while beautifully enunciated melancholy is her default setting, this record could do with more sharp edges. [Aug 2015, p.111]
  2. What Work It Out never quite manages to do, however, is leave any sort of lasting impression: the album’s near 45-minute runtime passes with the agreeable impermanence of a mid-afternoon reverie, a pleasing diversion that melts imperceptibly away as soon as it’s over.

Rose's voice is always likeable, accessible and expressive, sadly in the case of Work It Out it rarely has anything very interesting to express.

All the elements of solid indie pop are here, but too often it amounts to a familiar and underwhelming sound.

This album is the blandest of aural wallpaper.

Underrated, soft, beautiful, lyrical, understated. She has an understanding of where her voice performs best. The opening songs are definitelyUnderrated, soft, beautiful, lyrical, understated. She has an understanding of where her voice performs best. The opening songs are definitely the strongest and the standard dips slightly however she maintains focus and the closing song (Into the Wild) is a beautiful cherry on a Lucy Rose cake! Full Review »
