  • Summary: The third album for the indie band whose biggest hit, "Valerie," was remade by Amy Winehouse.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 9
  2. Negative: 0 out of 9
  1. True to form, this third record pootles around before, ultimately, achieving lift-off.
  2. At a time when labelmates (and, in the minds of the UK music press, rivals) the Coral are seemingly at a bit of a musical crossroads, the Zutons have made the album that delivers on their early promise.

As this flits from widescreen country soul to palpitating Meat Loaf theatrics, the overriding impression is of a band that's having a blast. [July 2008, p.99]

Howver uncool, these la's will have loads more hits in '08. [July 2008, p.104]
  5. Cosmic Scousers the Zutons decamped to LA to record their third album, and it shows.
  6. It's not a bad record, but by The Zutons' own extremely high standards, it's a disappointment.
  7. Uncut

Mark Ronson will be looking elsewhere for his next single. [July 2008, p.115]

Much better than their sophomore effort. Very solid, and some nice work on this one.

What happened? Their first cd was so good... I know who killed The Zutons... themselves.
