this is seriously my favorite project made by abel. he has matured his sound into something ethereal and with even darker lyrics and a darker message than before.

This album is absolutely immaculate. If Trilogy was the new form of art being introduced to the culture, this album is the perfection of that art form. From the production to the effect on Abel’s voice from every breath he takes from the start to end, this has to be one of his best, if not best project.

It is an extraordinary album, thanks to its nuances and sound combination, ranging from current sounds to classic eighties sounds, each song is a sea of emotions, it is very chameleonic. It is complex to define the emotion that this masterpiece can produce for you.

The way Abel keeps on evolving just shows how great of an artist he is, plus the whole album is connected and it's one big storyline with incredible music videos and it just might be top 3 The Weeknd projects of all time

With this album, The Weeknd finds a way to transport you into his world. The synth, engineering and vocals make this album his best project to date.

He dabbles so much into '80s nostalgia that he almost rick-rolled us. The songs that don't sound like Tears For Fears B-sides sound like Trilogy B-sides. Why do so much artists see the start of the '20s as an incentive to go back to their roots? Or is it just that they feel obliged to release something?
I'm really starting to get fed up with '80s nostalgia; it's high time for '90s

I'm really starting to get fed up with '80s nostalgia; it's high time for '90s nostalgia. Roll in the chronophobia and pessimistic escapism.

Weeknd fans are not gonna dislike this though, and even though I'm not a fan, I can't say I hate it.

no versatility, i feel like all his songs sound the exact same. i get that he relies on what he knows will automatically be a hit, he should try different styles and genres, people will get bored with the pumping of the same song over and over again

This album opens with a track that has a bit muffled vocals. Production makes it sound like it's not even Abel who's singing. Like on the thriller Blinding Lights with some very 80's synth lead melodies that bring back memories of Take On Me. Very catchy mixing in R&B style for the rest of the album. Expand

On his most experimental record yet, The Weeknd doesn't completely get out of his comfort zone. There's still a taste of the early The Weeknd, still, this is a reinvention of some sort. Some of the songs might sound similar if not the same, but it's an enjoyable ride overall. "In Your Eyes" and the title song "After Hours" are definitely the standout tracks, as well as "Scared to Live".

I'm an Abels fan, but his last album is just boring. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but some songs just feel like interludes before his singles. It's not his worst album at all, but he could have done better.

Spidery tendrils of sex-and-drugs-related dread curl around dramatic synth-pop and twinkling R&B, Yet there's also a batch of tracks that draw from bombastic, slightly tacky '80s pop - a warm, funny and wholly welcome diversion from the stylish but sterile bleakness that remains Tesfaye's calling card.
