Is your best album in terms of production, but some songs like "In your eyes" and "Hardest to love" is very simple for an artist like The Weeknd. He have a lot of potential to make incredible songs and not weak songs like I already mentioned. But overall is a great album.
    Best song: Escape from LA
Least favorite song: In your eyes

Best album of 2020! A well done story from the first song to the last. The Weeknd created a new character with inspiration from different movies and is very fascinating. The album musically is amazing which amazing songs like blinding light, in your eyes, save your tears and heartless just to mention a little.

The Weeknd is renewed in the genre and takes us to pure nostalgia. Yours dramatic lyrics in the company of the 80's sound make the scene perfect for listening to the album.

I think this album is near perfect, it sounds so raw and all the songs are catchy in their own way, it could either be his best or second best after trilogy. But this to me is the best R&B album of the year.

I was a huge fan of the Starboy album and Beauty Behind the Madness. However, After Hours just felt like a mix of the two with repetitive lyrics, themes, and sounds. Blinding Lights in particular felt way too generic to be the lead single. Abel's vocals are unique and emotive as usual, but the composition and production of the tracks left a lot to be desired. A cinematic experience which shows The Weeknd's creativity and imagination. Every song flows into another and keeps the same hedonistic theme we adore all throughout, hints of Trilogy and Kiss Land here and there which excites older fans. Definitely recommend a listen, not one song is a miss.

Genius. The Weeknd's 4th studio album, "After Hours" is a tremendous blessing to 2020. Production & songwriting are flawless, every song gives off a nostalgic, feel-good vibe, and his expressions through song leave you in awe.

I do have to admit, though, that I wasn't very impressed by the last few tracks. And this "alter ego" he's putting on is not really pleasing to the eye.

I do have to admit, though, that I wasn't very impressed by the last few tracks. And this "alter ego" he's putting on is not really pleasing to the eye. Nonetheless, I was impressed by everything else and will definitely keep on singing the chorus of "Blinding Lights" whenever I see lights in the dark throughout the rest of the year. 8 out of 10!

EDIT: I have decided after 1 & 1/2 weeks to update this review and bump up this album to a 9 out of 10. 2 of the 3 things I stated in that last paragraph did not last for long. I truly am super impressed with what The Weeknd has done with this unique LP. The alter ego still is a bit unsettling, but it really mixes deliciously (sorry lol) with the sound of each track. The music videos are also pretty great too.

You don't exactly see every artist expressing their true feelings in every piece of work nor giving it their all. And Abel Tesfaye does exactly that with "After Hours". One of the best albums of the year. Incredibly well done. (be aware, i might even bump this up to a 10!)

The Weeknd has been able to sneak in the popular scene of music without losing his own style. The depressive, nostalgic, and futuristic tendency have won a big fanatic mass that has made of The Weeknd a more popular artist than what he might deserve. In "After Hours", the artist gives in more into the popular demand and produces an album with very cliche and melodramatic lyrics, the music is simply an expression of that recycled Pop that mixes with Trap and R&B to complete a formula that enclosures the masses in a vicious loop of empty and cheap consumerism. Even if Kevin Parker makes a very welcome production and Da Healagives the attractive side to the album, in general, this is an experience that will be substituted as quickly as it disappears from the radio.

Honestly one of the best albums I've heard. It tells a sad and beautiful story from beginning to end.

I really love this album, the vocalization is very relaxing to listen to, and the flow of the album really shows that it's very well put together. I especially love After Hours and Faith. I like very much!!

I love this album, the best The Weeknd project in my opinion. everything about this is great, from the production to the vocals to the lyrics. This album shows how good Abel is at creating an atmosphere. Itā€™s a beautiful project and probably album of the year.

Heartless is very The Weeknd doing what we know him for since Beauty Behind the Madness, and I'm not saying it's bad, because it's far the opposite, but then it kind of repeats itself in the others of the album (aside the top three mentioned before).
If this was the debut album of some new kid it would be amazing, but for The Weeknd we expect more.

This is such an amazing album, the talent is unreal. Definitely on my top 5 albums this year.

I want to give it a 7.5/10 but that's not possible, so I'll stick with an 8.

Every song was connected in one way or another . The more you listen to this album the better it gets. This was definitely the best I've ever heard from Abel. It had me going going back and listening to songs to find stuff I missed before. This is Gold.

He has written some very catchy tunes in his time and he has a beautiful voice but the albums themes seem to be very repetitive, girls, money and a little bit of heart break, not much variety. Electronic sound is sometimes quite flat, not much punch, using the electronic effects to compensate for the lack of depth in the subject matter. Singles are as strong as his previous albums

This album is nothing short of great. The Weeknd is the best to pull off this eighties aesthetic theme, with beautiful synths layered into a a good amount of the tracks and a nice upbeat (somewhat irregular) tempo. If anything Abel manages to bring something unique and brilliant by combining his style with this eighties edge. What this album (imo) does best however is it's immersive atmosphere. Each track has it's own unique atmosphere, making you feel every single beat, every single instrument, and every single word. Each song is like a different part of this grander story and it really pays off. Not to mention this album has a great story. After Hours shows Abel's process of getting over a relationship and all the feelings of regret and torment that come with it. Expand

Really disappointing. After the wonders The Weeknd has made and with these 2 amazing singles, this should be his best album. It's not, most of the songs feel like outtakes from Starboy & BBTM. At least the singles are amazing.

I didn't like this album. I mean, I didn't mind, but I only liked three or four songs. I feel like the lyrics lack something. Most of the tracks sounded too much similar for me. I would've liked it much more if at least a few of the tracks were more experimental. He needs to get out of his comfort zone because all of his songs are the same, and it isn't going to work forever. 6/10

Spidery tendrils of sex-and-drugs-related dread curl around dramatic synth-pop and twinkling R&B, Yet there's also a batch of tracks that draw from bombastic, slightly tacky '80s pop - a warm, funny and wholly welcome diversion from the stylish but sterile bleakness that remains Tesfaye's calling card.
