Anastasis is a positively rapturous return for the Dionysus and Aphrodite of modern musical transcendence.

Anastasis' musical world isn't insular or sealed off; it's the rare album meant for longtime fans that is also accessible to new listeners.

Dark subjects [apocalypse], perhaps, but surprisingly enjoyable all the same. [Oct 2012, p.97]

The split between Perry and Gerrard's singing parts remains distinct not only vocally, but for the different subjects each explores. That could be a stumbling block in other hands, but always seems to bring out the best where these two are concerned.

From the first few notes, it's clear that the duo's signature blend of worldbeat rhythms and ancient melodies with rich electronic atmospheres is still potent, if leaning toward the synthesized side of DCD's lush sound.

DCD's uncompromising imagination can make it hard to jump into Anastasis, which can seem like an intimidating set of daunting, complex tracks that run six minutes or longer. But that just comes with the territory as Dead Can Dance sticks to its timeless principles.

With this less melodramatic, late-period Dance Can Dance, the finer things are encoded in the details.

Simply and exquisitely divine. This work shows that both Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard have grown musically during their solo periods. ISimply and exquisitely divine. This work shows that both Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard have grown musically during their solo periods. I couldn't be happier that they are reunited, and this album was worth the wait! If you have ever enjoyed a Dead Can Dance song in the past, you will definitely enjoy this album! Full Review »

It’s erudite, portentous in its introspection, and finds a band whose back catalogue is a thing of wonder. Simply an amazing work.

Anastasis is a wonderful art work. It makes you feel the different dimensions we live on, specially if you eat magic mushrooms before. ThisAnastasis is a wonderful art work.
