In the end, And After That We Didn’t Talk is as impressive of a rap debut as there has been in 2015. Once GoldLink’s reputation catches up with the quality of his music we may just have a new superstar on our hands.

Even with quick, dense and precisely rhythmic flows, his rapping is like verbal dancing. Its joyous and romantic moments make the album feel more like a thematic refinement than a musical one.

His music works when every element blends together, and And After That, We Didn't Talk is most interesting when he shares only the most vital details from a moment. It's then that he can wring his experiences for their emotions and convey feelings with more than just words.

GoldLink's debut album has something for every mood. Usually it takes an artist two or three albums before they reach maturity, however, with And After That, We Didn't Talk, GoldLink is well ahead of schedule.

There are a few strong sonic ties to God Complex, specifically the works of producer Louie Lastic, but this album has greater balance. The full spectrum of sound explored is even richer this time around.

When his conscious aligns with his songwriting We Didn’t Talk excels. He needs only seek himself and lead by example rather than trip over cliches.

I have been excited to see this guy drop a project since I found him on Soundcloud thanks to tracks like "Wassup", and though his unique voice and style are still very much present on "And After That, We Didn't Talk", they are somewhat muted, somewhat thrown into disarray and 100% unfocused. I expect his next project to blow this out of the water, because he has clearly demonstrated here that he has the makings of a great artist, he just hasn't figured out how to put all the great parts in the right places yet.
