Thirty years later and Appetite For Destruction still packs a visceral thrill; a combination of real attitude and proper songcraft that very few bands, if any, have ever combined so perfectly.

This remastered package in all its various formats is worth buying for the absolute bonanza of extra stuff include wit it. ... At the cene of it all still sit 12 of the most charged, arrogant, piss-and-vinegar songs ever written, perfectly captured, and played by a gang of reprobates genuinely out to take on the entire world. Although nothing here may eclipse the original Appetite for Destruction, everything added to this deluxe edition enhances the album, offering proof of Guns N' Roses's immense skill while also illustrating how the band captured lighting in a bottle on their debut.

Its hours of bonus content do offer a fresh perspective on one of the last great rock albums of the pre-alternative era. That material--including a handful of B-sides, previously unreleased demos, and most of the 1988 EP G N' R Lies (more on that later)--is the set's chief selling point.

As with everything Guns N' Roses from the period, it's not so much all access as it is all excess. And that's exactly what you want from a reissue like this. It'll bring you to your sha-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-knees.

It’s both beefier--practically punching you in the face in places--and more nuanced, the vocal harmonies, for instance (in many ways, GNR’s secret weapon--you don’t notice they’re there, until you do), coming into their own. Amping up its already formidable power, the new mix never loses the sense that this was the work of a bunch of scrappy upstarts, while reminding you just how well-constructed Appetite really was. That’s underscored by the bonus material.

It's a record full of fabulous intros. [Aug 2018, p.100]

Sweet Child o’ Mine and Welcome To The Jungle are two of my favorite songs, and I had not listened to a whole Guns N’ Roses album before, so I thought I’d give them a shot, and I loved it. I was blown away by this album, and by finding out that Appetite For Destruction contains a lot more goodies than the two previously mentioned songs. I particularly enjoyed Paradise City and Out To Get Me. Most of the album was fantastic, though there were a couple songs I wasn’t sure about. I did not really like Used To Love Her, since the lyrics and subject matter really weren’t that awesome, and Anything Goes shared this issue. Besides that, I was really happy with Appetite For Destruction, and look forward to listening to more GNR albums. Highlights: Welcome To The Jungle, Nightrain, Out To Get Me, Mr. Brownstone, Paradise City, My Michelle, Think About You, Sweet Child o’ Mine, You’re Crazy, Patience, and Shadow Of Your Love.
