  1. Its stylized, specific, and unflinching sound roars with a singular menace, at once terrifying and captivating.

This is artfully bracing listening. [Sep 2008, p.55]
  3. Unsettling and unexpectedly ravishing in equal measure, Prurient’s latest is as accomplished an album as his followers have come to expect.
  4. The in-the-moment experience of Fernow’s music is all physical; the aftershock is almost all intellectual, the specifics of the apparent transformation provided entirely by the listener, who is left standing not so much accused as self-implicated.
  5. Arrowhead is unfortunately not among the stronger things he’s released.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 1 out of 1
  2. Mixed: 0 out of 1
  3. Negative: 0 out of 1

Whaaaaaaat? Prurient on Metacritic? Man, I feel for all the high-score hunters who'll pick this up with no taste for noise. But anyway, Whaaaaaaat? Prurient on Metacritic? Man, I feel for all the high-score hunters who'll pick this up with no taste for noise. But anyway, I'm a huge Prurient fan, so of course this album hits a few major pleasure centers. But it's not the best place to start. Hear And Still, Wanting first. It's one of the best noise albums I've ever heard, and a good place to start with Prurient and noise as a whole. Prurient can be very rough, but almost all of his albums offer a rewarding experience, something that can't be said for all noise composers/musicians. Expand
