Jan 26, 2012A 19-track behemoth of (mainly) Sun Records covers, executed so faithfully that they could have been mouldering in a Memphis vault for 50 years.
-
Jan 20, 2012It's hardly a novel idea to cover these songs, but Isaak's versions succeed through skilful arrangement, vibrant recording (mostly at Sun) and above all some remarkable vocal performances.

-
Oct 18, 2011If you like Isaak you're probably already a fan of some of his idols, and nothing here outdoes the originals (and certainly even he knows nothing could). So even though Beyond the Sun isn't strictly necessary, it's great balls of fun.
-

-
Oct 20, 2011It's unlikely that anyone will prefer the covers to the originals, but Isaak's fans will find plenty to enjoy in this rock 'n' roll love letter to a bygone era.
