  1. Hip-hop's own Cheech and Chong boast chemistry that's as powerful as ever on Blackout! 2, this belated follow-up.
  2. It’s been a long, long decade since Blackout!, but this very worthy sequel proves worth the wait.
  3. The original deserves the top spot, but think of this as the "Godfather Part II" of reckless boom-bap rap and you've got an idea of how well this Blackout! satisfies.
  4. This album is a blast of nostalgia that doesn’t sound bitter or even particularly dated.

The middle-aged MCs have forged an album that reflects their belief that skills will always trump bells and whistles. Don’t mistake it for complacency--blame it on consistency. BO2 passes the smell test.
  6. The duo has left the cartoon buffoonery behind and drill down on making a rattling, raucous record.
  7. This dynamic duo comes off as vital as it has in a decade on the highly anticipated sequel to the pair's 1999 collaborative debut, "Blackout!"
  8. 70
As a sequel, Blackout 2 fails to move things forward; but as a revival, it’s a welcome blast.
  9. Whilst this album is by no means a classic, and musically the latter parts perhaps not faring as well with repeat listens, it is lifted up by superb lyrics and effortless charisma from the rappers.
  10. Method Man and Redman don’t recapture the “lightning in a bottle” factor of the very first Blackout!; however, they do give their patiently waiting fans a solid disc of party anthems.

After a ten year absence that included an average movie (How High) and a failed sitcom, for which they respectively deserved an opportunity After a ten year absence that included an average movie (How High) and a failed sitcom, for which they respectively deserved an opportunity towards, the Blackout 2! fails to impress and continues to exhaust the modern standard of the hip hop genre. Method Man and Redman appear to have lowered themselves for the sake of profit instead of substance with an album that includes heavy synth production. "Snap" and "Crunk" beats do not serve these gentlemen well. Full Review »

In a time where 90% +/- of music sounds the same (which would be great if it sounded good), its good to have some throwback music. A few In a time where 90% +/- of music sounds the same (which would be great if it sounded good), its good to have some throwback music. A few people might act like this is a bad thing. Hell nah. Meth & Red delivered one of, if not the best albums within the past 5 years. Love how they kept they style original as usual. You get old-school vibes but they are def far from outdated. Its a breathe of familiar fresh air in a stuffy, stench-filled room of commercial rap. Full Review »
