Bodies is a well put together album that will appease hungry fans, but it's not the injection of life that AFI so desperately needs at this stage of its career.

The band’s desire to suffuse their sound with new tones and textures is admirable and frequently pays dividends, but there are moments when that drive to evolve leads them to either cleave too close to other bands or stray too far from their own fundamentals.

Ultimately, it feels like too much is crammed in and AFI can't tell if they want to go pop, goth, retro or symphonic. And with something that schizophrenic, it undercuts a lot of what could have been diamonds in the rough.

This record is awful.I think the members of AFI now have so many side project bands that they have no idea what AFI actually is as a band. This record is awful. The music is bland and overproduced and the lyrics sound like they were written by a 15 year old. Sad thing is i actually enjoyed the last record. But Bodies is truly terrible. Full Review »
