Foreboding as his lyrics often are, there is enormous hope at the heart of this music, and its gentle, almost Elbow-like melodies transform his worries into a warm, soft sanctuary.

It’s about love and life and happiness and positivity without being the slightest bit sloppy. It’s the perfect accompaniment to bashing away the January blues and starting 2015 with a smile on your face.

Revealing and uplifting. [Feb 2015, p.94]

It doesn't stray very far from this template, but does just enough to suggest Genders has a few more strings to his bow.

Something more intimate and traditionally crafted, exploring the highs and lows of human interaction. [Feb 2015, p.77]

At times, effortless winsome... yet it comes with enough textural twitches and scuffs to underline its well-developed sense of wary melancholy. [Feb 2015, p.106]
  7. Jan 12, 2015

It’s largely inoffensive and bland, with a few above average moments, and has a tendency to fade into the background.
