Suffused in both the dread mortality inspires and the peace that comes with accepting its inevitability, it simultaneously addresses the effects that the passing of years has on one's relationships and the compromises these demand. [May 2016, p.66]

The arrangements turn more delicate and acoustic as the songs grow more hopeful. [No. 131, p.61]

Watt’s lyrics are poetic and insightful.

His songs are resonant with the weight of experience, and his musical settings, even in their relative sparsity, are powerful and at times nearly elegant.

Wintery Brit-folk closer New Year Of Grace is also special, a full-circle update on the steadfast, if weatherbeaten, live affair which the Opening track Gradually visits earlier in ts slow-burning voyage. [May 2016, p.89]

Fever Dream won’t change the world, but it may seem like a slightly more comforting place as you listen.

Fever Dream's AOR and folk stylings see Watt picking over the bones of his life, ruminating on such themes of love, loss and family in a wry, wise and unsentimental manner. [Jun 2016, p.117]

This is my first time hearing Ben Watt and I am very impressed with the structures to every song and the underlying hint of melancholy. TheThis is my first time hearing Ben Watt and I am very impressed with the structures to every song and the underlying hint of melancholy. The guitars remind me of something you would hear on AM radio in the 1970's. This is the perfect album for a grey, cold, spring day. Full Review »
