It's chugging, stoner rock riff solace to those bored by the cod therapy of Some Kind Of Monster. [Oct 2013, p.98]

It's a visceral, straightforward assault,, and what really shines through is a grasp of songwriting that was once sorely underused and a sense of commitment and passion that was never really in doubt. [27 Jul 2013, p.52]

This is no B.S. heavy metal and it makes you feel good, which is way more than many were expecting. And, no, the bass isn't embarrassingly loud in the mix.

From the heads-down assault of Soldierhead to the mutant grandeur of King of the Underdogs, this is a joyous statement of intent, heavy on hooks and propulsive riffing, and manifestly more convincing than anything Newsted's former comrades seem capable of at this point.

Newsted’s triumphant return has been one of the most surprising heavy metal success stories of 2013. They just don’t make ‘em like this anymore.

The album just offers up a heaping pile of midtempo heaviness that harkens back to Metallica's middle years.

Nothing new is really brought to the table, but it doesn't seem as though Jason was reaching for anything more, so it succeeds on its own merits.

Rock Sound's review says the album is "Not good, not bad, just is.", and I kind of tend to agree.

Listened to it until the songs would not leave my head, something that Metallica haven't managed since way back when.

Long time dead is the highlight for me. Great song.

But if we are perfectly honest this is not a great record. Im not saying that is a bad one but it left me with nothing too remarkable. Although the band has potential, lets hope better records for the future. Full Review »
