  • Summary: Known for her work as half of the 4AD group Dead Can Dance, as well as more recent efforts scoring such films as Gladiator and Whale Rider, Lisa Gerrard here unites with Irish classical composer Patrick Cassidy for ten new tracks, including songs sung in Aramaic, Latin and Gaelic.

Epic, exhilarating, extraordinary. [Feb 2004, p.98]
  2. The album isn't exactly suited to the taste of pop or rock connoisseurs, but has enough quality moments to make it a gem.
  3. But while the scope of Immortal Memory is huge... the music is entirely accessible.
  4. An epic, sweeping cycle of songs that's completely over the top-- usually in the best possible way.

[It] won't take her fans anywhere new. But stick with her as she builds a mystery. [23/30 Jan 2004, p.99]

It's very moving -- just moving very slowly. [18 Jan 2004]
  7. Doesn't possess the necessary tension of DCD's best or her wonderful 1995 solo debut, The Mirror Pool.

This is a very special album, but the kind that is likely to be overlooked for some time by those not already familiar with Gerrards genius. This is a very special album, but the kind that is likely to be overlooked for some time by those not already familiar with Gerrards genius. For me, first listen was an emotional ride beyond description!!!! Don't expect DCD here though. This one runs closer along the path of her journeys through the world of film score... Though a richly emotional soundscape of visuals are conveyed here without the accompaniment of film! Expand

Pretty much one of the best albums for soundtrack to a film that has not been made yet.
