Mar 19, 2021Throw in a long but smartly assembled selection of A-list producer/co-writers that includes Andrew Watt, Skrillex, the Monsterz & Strangers, Louis Bell, Benny Blanco, Finneas and too many more to mention, and it adds up to a Bieber who is actually making smart choices pretty much all around, all of a sudden, sounding like the antithesis of what he admits he once was: “Unstable.” This is a honeymoon that could last.
-
Mar 19, 2021It’s been just over a year since Bieber released his worst album. He’s returned with his best.
-
Mar 19, 2021Bieber appears to have rediscovered his mojo, resulting in one of his most focused projects to date.
-
Mar 19, 2021Justice happily expand its sonic palette with more textures and tempos.
-
Mar 23, 2021His voice has a palatable smoothness; he’s mastered push-and-pull dynamics, and he swings effortlessly from a placid chest voice to a zephyr of a falsetto. That litheness and control are on full display across Justice. Even when the songwriting is spiritless and the production rote—and it occasionally is, as on the confessional “Unstable” and the saccharine “Deserve You”—he still sings the hell out of it.
-
Mar 26, 2021The upshot is that Justice is one of Bieber's steadiest releases, among the easiest to play from start to finish. The only overdone aspect is the low self-esteem and unworthiness the lyrics either suggest or flatly express in almost every song.
-
Mar 22, 2021Overall, Justice is better when Bieber takes the listener to his own room than when he's reading the room. He shines in the most emotional songs ad is competent in making you dance too.
-
Mar 19, 2021A work of subtle progression, its evangelical appeal is dimmed by the familiarity of those colossal singles. As fuel for the continuation of Justin Bieber’s mission, however, there’s much here to reaffirm your faith.
