While there are certainly all manner of influences on KOMPROMAT, this is an album of considerable depth and intellect that rewards careful investigation, and a well timed return from a band at the top of their game.

It’s a powerful and incredibly timely return from a band who have written an album that eloquently holds up a mirror to the world of misinformation, of binary political arguments, the divisive promotion of culture war, and indeed a world in which “the truth is no longer concerned with the facts.”

Taken as a whole, it’s the sound of a band reinvented, shrouded in autumnal atmosphere and containing depths that reveal themselves on repeat listens – whatever the truth may be, on their long-awaited fourth album, I LIKE TRAINS remain true to themselves.

‘KOMPROMAT’ is an album that cements I LIKE TRAINS once more not only as a force to be reckoned with but as a band who are able to deliver a delicate critique on society.

The monotone vocal diatribes can be a little waffly, but the urgent, Bloc Party-esque thrust of "Dig In" and the addictive synthpop throb of "Prism" are incisive backdrops that keep you engaged, if not completely converted. [Oct 2020, p.32]
