There’s something special about the lyrical content that proves relatable yet poignant and beautiful all at the same time, resonating with listeners through the band’s unique ability to take basic, everyday ideas and turn them into an imaginative work of art.

Overall, the album is still an agreeable first effort, although it doesn't really produce anything demanding immediate attention.

LANY’s ambition is admirable—and this debut will sound great blasted at parties all summer long--but its pleasures end up feeling superficial and ephemeral.

LANY is certainly listenable and its hour run-time isn’t a total drag (grating voicemail interlude ‘Parents’ notwithstanding). There’s just a deficit of substance in an album that practically seems to be begging for you to feel something.

It's lush beats and atmospheric synths are beautifully complemented with lyrics that represent so many stages of relationships.
