Easy crowd banter and goofy in-the-moment revisions of lyrics make Live not only a fine addition to the band's discography, but an excellent summing-up of the best of its output so far. [No. 117, p.53]

Live at a Flamingo Hotel is a pristine concert documentary, brimming with the energy, charm and consummately great sound of all those Dr. Dog shows that have hooked so many new fans over the years.

As a whole, Live at a Flamingo Hotel is unlikely to attract too many new fans. It's a solid and spirited live album, but hardcore devotees are already well aware of the band's prowess on stage and they'll be the ones who benefit the most from this release.

While not nearly as great as seeing the band live, this record does a commendable job of capturing the band at their energetic, playful best.

Live at a Flamingo Hotel (any Flamingo Hotel will do, apparently) has 19 swaggering, giddy takes of fan favorites like their better-than-the-original Architecture in Helsinki cover "Heart It Races."
