This album is AMAZING, cant stop listening to it. The album really shows the hard work that BTS puts into their music. They do an incredible job in actually breaking down the language barrier, which seems to be a hard thing to understand for the part of GP and critics who refuse to look beyond the boyband stigma and appreciate the art for what it stands for. Good job BTS, keep it up.

It's obvious that members participated in writing the lyrics cause they are really personal. Ugh is my absolute favorite because it's so relatable. From start to end this album tells the story of BTS going inside them selves and diving deep into their shadows with references to Carl Jung’s psychology this truly is the map to finding themselves Intro persona starts off the journey with BTS’ leader RM questioning “Who the Hell am I” a hard hitting confesional rap song. Boy With Luv follows referencing the bands earlier song “Boy In Luv”From start to end this album tells the story of BTS going inside them selves and diving deep into their shadows with references to Carl Jung’s psychology this truly is the map to finding themselves Intro persona starts off the journey with BTS’ leader RM questioning “Who the Hell am I” a hard hitting confesional rap song. Boy With Luv follows referencing the bands earlier song “Boy In Luv” BTS state that they are no longer consumed by this emotion rather they flow with it they have grown and matured and now thank their fans for giving them a deeper sense of true love and passion for music and BTS & ARMY. The same sentiment caries into make it right where BTS song about wanting to make ARMY happy and thanking their fans for staying by their side through thick and thin. Next is Jamais Vu which is the opposite of deja vu meaning a feeling that you do the same thing over and over but each time it feels like it’s the first time or it hurts like it’s the first time. BTS sing about wanting to be freed from the pressures and disappointments within them selves they sing “please give me one more chance, a melody that will make my heart beat again” truly beautiful. In dionysus with references to Greek mythology the boys sing about the intoxicating High they get from performing and metaphorically getting drunk on art going crazy and releasing their shadows this leads to the first new track that isn’t from map of the soul persona, Interlude Shadow BTS’ rapper and producer SUGA put it all out there and he states his shadow they part of himself he try’s to avoid us his fear of the fame and loosing it all he faces his shadow and in Black Swan all 7 members face their one collective shadow, The fear of loosing their passion for music a mellow trap beat mixed with traditional korean instruments lead this hypnotizing track where BTS go through a realization they rap about loosing their love and regaining it in the studio ultimately they remember why they started in the first place 7 years ago and they sing “ I’ll next get dragged away again inside I saw myself myself” next is Filter fun Latin pop song Jimin sings about changing and being anything for everyone his special charm and love for performing and gaining attention and love from the audience. In MY time Jungkook the youngest member sings beautifully about how he feels like he’s grown up faster than anyone searching for time to catch up on life wondering if he’s made the write choice he ends reassuring us he has and he will find himself. Louder than Bombs is a dramatic song worthy of being a film score the boys sing about their pain and the pain of the whole world wanting to stop it breaking and in the end singing louder than bombs... in ON BTS brings together the UCLA Marching band a Choir and a bunch of dancer to create this empowering song and performance about fighting through the hard times and never giving up. In UGH! BTS criticize people who choice to spend their time hating on others and directing their anger at useless things instead of issues that matter JHOPE raps “anger can cost even a life” most likely referencing the Kpop star that passes away because of the hare others gave her. Hare has to stop being directed at needless things and toward real issues. In 00:00 o clock BTS song about the reset during midnight hoping the next day will be better and reassuring fans they will be happy someday. In Inner child BTS’ V sings to his younger self telling him he will change and that is all right the lyrics are beautiful once again written by BTS’ RM “I want to hug all the thorns in that budding rose” In Friends Jimin & V sing about their special friendship & bond having gone to high school together they are best friends even soulmates what a beautiful thing to have found each other. In Moon JIN sings to ARMY in Respect RM & SUGA sing about the meaning of respect which is a huge part of Korean society they question if it should have as much importance as it does. In We are bulletproof The eternal BTS State their destiny they were destined to meet and they will stay together they sing of how far they’ve come and reflect on the past with promises to keep going forward we are forever bulletproof. In Outro Ego JHOPE raps up the album fully embracing himself who he was who he is and who he wishes to be it’s all him in the end a great ending to this part of their self discovery journey. Expand

BTS expands on that vision with their sleek and polished seventh full-length, Map of the Soul: 7. Through the lenses of fame and relationships, the group embark on a psycho-emotional journey that explores ideas of identity and self, using Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung's concepts (The brighter the light, the longer the Shadow.) as a backbone of the album. I think they could go easier on the autotune, they have beautiful voices and the rap line should trust themselves more, their voices are beyond perfection. That’s my only complaint. I did an extensive research on the lyrics, because for me, music just don’t cut it and I was not disappointed. The lyrics make up for that autotune 100%. Everything is being cut out to perfection on that section. Good lyrics, good beats, I distinctly hear a choir in there as well. Gospel singers in the background for some of the songs, I’m beyond satisfied. Each member delivers satisfying songs with deep messages of their own as well. JK with My Time is particularly beautiful and so is V’s Inner Child as you can really relate with his inner struggle from past to future. BLACK SWAN is the top tier, a masterpiece in its very own right. ON’s message of keep the fight on despite the struggles is well needed in these times. Moon just fills you with happiness, Filter puts you in a feel-good mood. Shadow is deep and well thought out. Ego says so much about J-hope and how thankful he is with his life choices. Persona finds you questioning your own self. 00’00 is needed right now, everything will be okay!! I can’t believe such an album exists. I can’t believe I encountered people who don’t like the album because who sings these songs. If a western artist did the same album with only half of those songs, I assure you they get album of the year. UGH will put a Western artist on the top of the charts with the beats alone. And this song’s lyrics are above my imagination, that’s real writing right there, once you dissect those lyrics is unbelievable what they came up with. Respect while is my least favorite, lyrically is perhaps on the top of my list. There’s so many more songs I could through but overall, I recommend this album very much. If you don’t end up crying with We Are Bulletproof The Eternal, I don’t know what to tell you. Please listen without prejudice and you’d be surprised. BTS are not just pretty people who dance very well. They have the written skills of poets beyond their years. You won’t regret giving them a chance, I know I don’t!! Expand

An album that can do that....isn't that what music is all about?? Buy and you will treasure not only the album but your own journey you will travel whilst listening to MOTS7. Expand

Since this album celebrates their 7 years of being together, it is expected that the songs are personal and at the same time, the kind of songs which everyone can relate. They manage to make the songs about themselves and for the listeners as well. At first, I doubt that a group like them would be consistent in making great music, so I checked all of their old songs and albums and its lyricism up to their recent albums and I can say that nothing has changed. They were still able to make great music, and the thing is, they don't stay in just one genre. The group CAN pull any genre they want and I bet they can even make their own genre, considering how passionate and experimental they are. They want to make a song that's never been heard and lyrics which all people, not only their fans, can relate, the reason why their fans keep growing in numbers. They keep on making music both for the fans and the general public. A song which all people can relate. I will never hesitate buying their upcoming albums because I know they will never disappoint. Map of the Soul: 7 shows how BTS is capable of creating music of different genres. A lot of different genres are used and sometimes smashed together in a song like for example louder than bombs. It talks about complex themes like the fear of loosing your art, what respect really is between two people, how hate has become an overused feeling etc. But there are also feel good songs. Best album of the year for sure. Expand

As a whole, the strong but not particularly unruly “7” is less sure-footed than “Love Yourself: Tear,” the group’s last full-length, from 2018, and the first K-pop album to debut atop the Billboard album chart.

Taut and primal, “MOTS: 7” is a kind of self-referential homage. ... Each get solo turns to shine here, their collective work is what stands out.

Persona lacked the natural fluidity and chicness of their best music. Those problems aren’t exactly mitigated here, since most of those songs appear on this album too, but within this new context, they feel like a flashback before the saga continues. Many of the new songs are better about balancing Easter eggs for day-ones with new entry points for more casual listeners.
